1. How do print and electronic media influence public opinion?
Print and electronic media use 2 main ways to influence public opinion in principle, psycho sell and cultural icons. Psycho sell gives importance to the target audience and convince them to purchase products mentally. For example, if you went to an Apple store to buy an iPhone, because of the white room, you would prefer to own a white phone rather than a black phone. Cultural icons could convince people by taking famous persons who are recognized and admired by the society. Those famous people could use their influence to convince the target audience. For example, Jackie Chan is a super famous actor and he participated in lots of advertisement. The audience would be convinced because of Jackie Chan’s influence.
2. How does Advertisement influence us?
There are two kinds of advertisement in general, informational advertising and transformational advertising.
Information advertising provides factual and relevant information about a product or service. For example, Apple shows the computational performance of their new products every time, such as iPhone and MacBook and so the customer could know the products better. Transformation advertising is based on the promise of a singularly unique user experience that the product or service delivers to users, which cannot be replicated by competing brands. For example, the advertisement of IPhone always illustrate the enjoyable life that a person who gets an iPhone had. People would think that an iPhone can bring them a better life and so they decide to purchase an iPhone.

1. Take a trial version of the product.
2. Wait for Public reviews.
3. Follow the advertisement
In my opinion, the best way of judging a product is to wait for public reviews because you could get different aspects of opinions from public. For example, advertisement is for companies to persuade people to purchase their products and so there would be only the advantages shown on the advertisement. On the other hand, public reviews provide a variety of opinions and feelings before and after using the products. We would get a comprehensive understanding of the products.
