3:00 – 4:00
Today was my first lesson with my facilitator, Mr. Bill Murchison ( Towne Lake Hills Golf Pro). We started off with some practice swings with a 9 iron. After hitting about 5 balls in a row horribly. He brought out his iPad and videoed my swing. Then we watched and immediately figured out the correct adjustments to make. After changing my grip and follow through, I hit 10 balls clean down the middle. Today was dedicated to finding my swing!
I was very nervous going into this lesson. I knew I would do very badly at first. Mr. Bill changed that right when I got there. I went from not being able to hit the ball at all to stroking it 100 yards in 5 minutes. It is crazy what technology can do when used as a teaching tool. I can’t wait to practice the techniques I learned today.
Mr. Bill and I after the lesson, and before reviewing clips of my swing once more. Today went a lot better than I expected.

11:00 – 2:00
Today I played my first 18 holes ever at Eagle Watch Golf Club. Using the grip, stance, and swing techniques I learned at the first lesson I managed to finish with a 97. This is definitely not the best round of golf ever played, but without the lesson I would have easily been plus 120. Today was all about practicing what I was taught and getting a feel of what the game of golf brings.
At first, I was very frustrated with my drive. The ball was slicing hard to the right every time. After going back and reviewing the clips my facilitator had emailed me, I immediately found the problem. A simple grip change fixed the issue and turned my day from frustrating to a blast!
In this picture I am observing my shot after swinging the 5 iron. I overcame the frustration and it ended up being a productive morning.

3:00 – 4:00
Today I went back to Towne Lake Hills for a second lesson with Mr. Bill. The goal was to master the driver, which is the biggest club in golf. After an hour of hard work and reviewing clips of my swing, I got it down.
To begin with, I struggled once again with the drive. I just could not get it clean. I then rotated my right arm WHILE swinging. This action caused the club face to close. The ball then flew on a perfect line for hundreds of yards.
The backswing of the driver club. Today was about adjustments. I felt much more comfotable today than with my first lesson.
4:00 – 6:00
Today was dedicated to figuring out how to use the pitching wedge. At eagle watch golf course I played 9 holes. The pitching wedge is a less powerful, but more accurate club. Today’s goal was reached in just a couple of hours.
The pitching wedge became my favorite club today. I picked up on how to use it very fast. This club is made for landing medium range shots on the green. There is no better feeling than when I did just that.
In this picture I am adjusting my feet before hitting the ball with the pitching wedge. This shot landed on the green. I enjoyed learning more about the pitching wedge today.
3:30 – 4:30
This afternoon I went back to Towne Lake Hills Clubhouse for a lesson with Mr. Bill. To warm up we did “The two ball drill” which emphasizes the movement of bringing my hands in. Then we worked on control and balance while adding some slight tweaks to my stance. The last objective was power, which in golf is mostly about technique rather than strength. Overall, today was based on reviewing the fundamentals.
I am very glad that we reviewed over the fundamentals today rather than moving on to something new. I was able to master the techniques I learned at the last lesson. Now I am starting to see a tremendous difference in my swing.
Mr. Bill and I after the “two ball drill”. We both hate selfies but there wasn’t a third person. It was a great fundamental afternoon.
11:00 am – 1:00 pm
This beautiful day was a perfect time to work on my project. Arriving at eagle watch just before 11, I got a good warm up in. After, I focused on ball placement. Hitting the ball far is the easy part. Aiming the ball is the hard part. Throughout the 9 holes I got closer and closer to my first birdie, but not quite. My accuracy improved a lot though.
Instead of swinging as hard as I could this morning, I enjoyed myself. The weather was great, and my swing felt even better. I might have found a new hobby.
A great view at the start of the course. I believe this is hole 2. I enjoyed and learned a lot about accuracy this morning.
2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Today I went to Towne Lake Hills clubhouse and surveyed 50 golfers. The question was: Do you golf for business, leisure, or both. The results did not disappoint.
I was expecting almost every person asked to choose “both”. Instead, over half of them golfed strictly for business. These results will be useful for when I make the connection between golf and business in my presentation.
This is the information I gained from my survey. I am very happy with the results. This was a great experiement to support my research paper.
Today I filmed for the video I will be making for my final product. My mom and I played nine holes at Towne Lake Hills. She took great videos and pictures of my swing.
I plan on using these videos in my before and after segment of the video. It is awesome seeing how much my swing has improved in just a few months.
Gazing over the fairway, I try to find where my ball ended up. Today was a productive day.
6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Tonight I put together my video for my final product. It reviews over everything I had to overcome, golf’s strong correlation with business, and my improvement.
Using movie maker, I was able to edit certain clips together and build a five minute video. Before presenting this video I will give an introduction and short overview of my project. This should put my presentation right around eight minutes.
In this picture I am editing my videos together. This process was hard but my final product is complete. I found it interesting learning how to use movie maker. struggled once again with the drive. I just could not get it clean. I then rotated my right arm WHILE swinging. This action caused the club face to close. The ball then flew on a perfect line for hundreds of yards.
