This afternoon I have started on my senior project, and I am very excited. I first spent about 30 minutes making a plan and a blueprint, on my yard. I have decided to do this blueprint because it will help me to understand and plan out my project. After making my blueprint I spent about another 30 minutes on Pinterest looking for some designs or inspirations for my project. After that, I finally began to work on my project and had almost completed one segment of my overall project.
While I was working on my yard(my project), my facilitator was guiding me in how to work throughout my yard. She taught me many strategic ways in how to make a design and how to start the design. I did learn many different useful techniques about gardening and landscaping. I am very excited to finish my project and see the end results.

Every day I try to always look for new inspirations to add to my garden, so I decided to buy a Southern Gardens and Landscaping Magazine Fall edition. This magazine will give me a good experience on how to look at my project as a whole. After looking through this magazine, I jotted down some ideas on my blueprint, and I started working on my project.
This morning, I started with some work and then I got on Pinterest to look for some more ideas. After this, I started working on my project a bit more before the day ended. I had completed another tiny section in my project.
A portion of my project that I was working on. I am very excited to continue and finish this section.

7:00 am- 11:00 am
Today I spent time on redoing my blueprint. I had a problem with my budget, and now I have to redo some ideas in the garden. However, they are minor adjustments. After this I worked on my project for a while before the blazing sun came out.
This morning while I was working on my project I noticed that I needed to redo a section that I thought I could just leave because it didn’t need a lot of work done on it, but I do need to redo it. Noticing it I did have to redo my blueprint and reorganize my budget so I can have enough to redo the part I need to.
After working hard, I’ll hopefully complete it soon. I am very happy with the progress I made today.

5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
This evening I decided to work a little on my senior project. As I was planning on what to start on, I walked out the front door and saw that I could start from there. In my front yard there is a garden with a pond in the middle. I decide to start in the front and work my way back. The front is considered a little border to the walkway to my driveway. This border was very freely growing, so there were a lot of unevenness and weeds everywhere. The walkway itself was also not always kept up with.
I started with blowing all the trash and leaves off. Blowing off on the walkway was simple and easy, however the garden part was not. I cleaned the border/edge of the garden and started to take the weeds and unnecessary greenery away. After this I started to plant some rose bushes that I had previously bought. I planted these bushed on the edge so that it would give the walkway a nice view. After this I placed some white rock on the edge so that it would give some definition to the border and walkway. I cleaned it all up after and placed some nice white Christmas lights for a nice presentation/finish look.
The end product of a long Saturday night. I am extremely happy of the end result. I know now that my work does pay off.

11:00 am – 1:00 pm
This morning I went to Lowe’s again to see if there were any deals or sales of flowers that I could buy. I did not find any flower ,however I did find a plant that I love. The green plant gives a great look when planted with white rock. I planted this plant in a tall entrance pot.
I started looking around in my garden for places to work on and thought that I could plan ahead and see which plants would need more time to grow and which ones were starting to bloom. I have several fruit trees in my yard and have given my garden beautiful vibrant colors. I also found that some of my roses were starting to bloom.
These are some of my flowers that have bloomed and fruit trees that are starting to bloom.

This morning I went to the Lowe’s store to buy some plants that I will feature in one of my gardens, a Japanese inspired garden. These plants took a lot to find. They were quite expensive as well. I decided to buy these plants because they catched my eye when I saw them. However of course to have a japanese garden you will need some bamboo.
When I bought these plants I asked my project facilitator for some advice on planting and growing them. She advised me to start growing them inside since they are very delicate. Also since the winter chills have not yet fully left this season, the plants would have to stay indoors in order to survive. The bamboo is very nice and easy to grow. However plenty amounts of water are required for it to grow. The second plant that I bought is a purple shamrock plant. This plant is extremely delicate and cannot be left in the cold at all. This plant is very pretty and unique because with the sunlight it opens up and in the night it closes.
The purple Shamrock plant, and bamboo I started to grow indoors. The bamboo is
placed in a clear vase with plenty of water. The purple shamrock is in a warm pot for it keep expanding.

9:00 am – 1:00 pm
This morning I decided to work on my senior project. I decided to work on a piece that is right outside of my front door. This piece is seen very easily, and it has a pond in the middle. Last time I worked on the front border of this section, today I will work on the side of the section.
I went out to buy some roses. I then started clearing the part where I was going to plant the roses. One thing that I am not going to do on this side of the section is that I will not border the edge with rocks. Since my driveway is used a lot, I will not have the rocks in the way. Instead of a rock border, I will border the section with roses along the edge. Then when the roses grow, they will create a like border for the edge.
I have started with this side of the section of my yard. I have planted these roses to add an edge border effect to this section. I am very happy to see the roses grow in.

5:00 am – 7:00 pm
This afternoon I went to Lowe’s once more and bought some more roses. I bought these roses for the section of the side of my house. This section has been bordered off with a rock section. I decided to plant roses here since right next to a section with a lot of roses also.
I commenced this part with raking and cleaning off this section. Then, I sprayed some grass killer so that grass would not grow out. Next, I planted the roses. Then, I placed a vinyl layer so that grass does not grow through and show.I placed this in between the roses. After this, I spread out a mix of black and brown woodchips for a nice finish.
This is the section of my yard that is next to my house.I have yet to complete this section; however, I am very satisfied on how it is going to look when I finish.

9:00 am – 11:00 pm
This morning I decided that instead of constantly keep buying woodchips, that I could just get a load dropped off. The neighborhood electricity company came by one day, and on the side of the truck it said that they gave free woodchips. I then took the opportunity and called and had a load dropped off.
I got this load of woodchips because I have used so many bags of woodchips and wasted a lot of money that I have came to this decision. I consider this as a very wise decision. Since I use woodchips in most of the sections of my project, it is logical for me to have this load for me to use.
The load of woodchips I got. I cannot wait to use all of it. I am very excited to see this used in my gardens. fruit trees that are starting to bloom.
