Wind power is the use of air flow through wind turbines to mechanically power generators for electricity. Wind power, as an alternative to burning fossil fuels, is plentiful, renewable, widely distributed, clean, produces no greenhouse gas emissions during operations, and uses little land.
Nowadays, use wind power has become an important option for the countries all over the world. Wind power is one of the fastest growing clean energy in the renewable energy. Wind power will solve the problem of poor energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions made a significant contribution.
Statement Of Problem
What are the benefits of using wind power?
In fact , more and more countries in the world use wind power to reduce the electricity and it is become one of the most fastest growing energy in the world. So wind power can be more and more important parts to any country in the world.
What can we do by using wind power?
We can use wind power to reduce electricity and another energy. Use wind power to reduce the electricity is for free. So government can use wind power system to help the poor energy area.
For our students, what can we learn from this kind of renewable power? Wind power is a very clean power to reduce the electricity and it is just for free. It will not bring the pollution than another way to reduce the electricity. So that way is better the another way with the greenhouse gas.
How can we create a model about wind power by ourselves? We can use wind power to create a model in a easy way. We design the model first, and we add the environment in the model, such as some grass and river, also add the garden to let the model become a environment not just a model.
II. Research Solutions
Oliver: The product should be a system, not only a model; it should close to the real scene. And the product should stable and easy to let the target audience understand. Because as a model the most important thing is to be a whole and each part should be different but clear. For example, the most important part – wind energy should be stable, protect it out away from dangerous. And the house that the people lived should be beautiful because everyone will let their house comfortable to saw and lived. And the product should be suit for many different kind of environment. Most of the wind generating sets are being set up in the windward slope, and it is really hard to create the electric power in the basin or in the plateau. So we can change the size of the air fan in order to let them suit for different kind of environment. The detailed determine success or failure. So pay attention to the small detail is also very important.
Starry: The final product should hide some unaesthetic wire under the ground. And the model should be stable with good quality. And the product should suit for different environment, there are many countries use wind power to create the electricity. But for some special countries it is very hard to use wind to create electricity. If the environment is similar to the basin and the wind is hard to take shape. So if we want to use the wind to create the electricity, we can only use the smaller air wing to let the product more easily to move. So our product should be suit for different environment.
Summer: Our final product should be a recycle one, all the materials should be recycled, when we finished using it, it should be used again and again, so we can in order to protect the environment, and the final system can produce the electricity and can work very well. The design of our product is due to it can be changed in different places. The product is strong enough and finished to a high standard, it uses much knowledge we have learnt about in our middle school, and the most important part of it is physics.
Jock: Our product should be stable and functional. The energy in this world is limited, everyday people waste lots of energy and resource. So we need to save as more energy as we can. If we still waste energy everyday, this world will be destroyed by us. So it is very important to make a machine which use clean resource to make electricity. Then we design a machine to transfer wind power to electricity. And the electricity of the product can let at least one light be lighted, and the voltage is approximately 20V, and use two leads.
Starry: With the development of electric power, wind power found new applications in lighting buildings remote from centrally-generated power. Today wind powered generators operate in every size range between tiny stations for battery charging at isolated residences, up to near-gigawatt sized offshore wind farms that provide electricity to national electrical networks.
Summer: The environmental impact of wind power when compared to the environmental impacts of fossil fuels is relatively minor. According to the IPCC, in assessments of the life-cycle global warming potential of energy sources, wind turbines have a median value of between 12 and 11 (gCO2eq/kWh) depending on whether off- or onshore turbines are being assessed. Compared with other low carbon power sources, wind turbines have some of the lowest global warming potential per unit of electrical energy generated.
Jock: The first windmill used for the production of electricity was built in Scotland in July 1887 by Prof James Blyth of Anderson's College, Glasgow (the precursor of Strathclyde University). Blyth's 10 m high, cloth-sailed wind turbine was installed in the garden of his holiday cottage at Mary Kirk in Kincardineshire and was used to charge accumulators developed by the Frenchman Camille Alphonse Faure, to power the lighting in the cottage.
The aerodynamics of a wind turbine is not straightforward. The air flow at the blades is not the same as the airflow far away from the turbine. The very nature of the way in which energy is extracted from the air also causes air to be deflected by the turbine. In addition, the aerodynamics of a wind turbine at the rotor surface exhibit phenomena that are rarely seen in other aerodynamic fields.
III- Design And Develop
According to our research and specification, we decided our first design.

First: We fold the k-t board into a
box without cover.
Second: Use wooden building blocks, use our creativity to make and improve the two houses, let both of them can used the wind power and it can include the wind generating at the top of both two houses.
Third: assembly the fans ，prepare all the material together and use coup to wipe off 1 cm of the enameled wire, then found the positive and negative electrode of both two wire. Motors and wires together
Fourth: Put the fans and the motor in the house.
Fifth: Use the wires to connect bulbs, try it before we assemble to make sure that it cans normal power supply.
Sixth: Put the bulbs in the house.
Seventh: Use colorful cards to dress it up, and then we tailor some blue cloth as the river. Affix to glue in the K-T board and scatter some grass meal as the forest and the field. Final we put all the things together and our model is completed.
IV – Test And Evaluate Solution
1.The disposition of lights is not very good, some places cannot be illuminated, and the design of the space utilization is not village, so the whole model looks not with a very good quality.
Therefore, we change the position of the bulbs and make it more reasonable, according to the right position of the bulbs, we can bright the whole house.
2. Without the environment the model also cannot be a whole system.
So we add the environment system that made of colorful card to dress it up, then it looks more beautiful and reasonable.
3. At first the windmill is very big so it cannot connect with other parts. We are not pay attention to the measurement; the house is very big so that we have no more room to add the river and the forest. So it will destroy the felling of the whole product and it will look ugly.
We control the proportion of the size seriously, and so we have enough space to dress up it, then we also put the fan in the house, it save more space and looks nice.

According to the actual situation ，we got our redesign finally.
