The forces that allow a paper plane to fly are the same ones that apply to real airplanes. A force is something that pushes or pulls on something else. When you throw a paper plane in the air, you are giving the plane a push to move forward. That push is a type of force called thrust.
While the plane is flying forward, air moving over and under the wings is providing an upward lift force on the plane. At the same time, air pushing back against the plane is slowing it down, creating a drag force. The weight of the paper plane also affects its flight, as gravity pulls it down toward Earth. All of these forces (thrust, lift, drag and gravity) affect how well a given paper plane's voyage goes.
Statement of the Problem:
Design and build a paper plane that can fly better than the others.
The paper plane should fly 50 ft. from the point of reference.
It should be strong, durable and finished to a high standard.
It must be possible to manufacture the design in the classroom.

Paper airplane fly using two forces of gravity and lift interaction formation. Paper airplane own body weight will pull down the fall, the wing will catch air . paper airplane floating in the air, and then plus thrower forward to help a paper airplane taxiing "power" - to produce inertial motion slid off the balance of the three forces, will be able to fly graceful.
The results we want to get
Make a special beautiful plane which can fly very far.
1,our plane should fly 15 meters with a very short time.
2,it should be stabilization when it fly.
3,it should be firm. We can not break it easily
4,it must be easy to make.

If you need to create a paper plane, you have these problems. First of all , you need to keep balance on the paper plane, So you need to fold in the middle of the paper .If you cannot ,the paper will easy rotating in the air. In addition ,you need to find a suitable plane head, If it is too heavy,you plane will easy to fall down. You can use some glue to solve this problem.（Clarissa）
Firstly， we put some heavy and stiffness things in it nose. Because if we let it nose heavy, the plane will be more steady. If we use stiffness, it can make plane not very easy to change.
Secondly, we use cuspidal nose, in order to diminution the resistance.（Helen）
We used ruler to press the front of the paper plane, to make the paper plane not be out of shape easily.
We cut a part of paper in the front of paper plane. To make the front of paper plane be lighter.(Lekan)

from this ,i know we should let force balance. I know the air will be under the wings when the plane moving. Not only this, we can use something to let it going down slowly. Just to central it resistance. Such as use the special shape of the plan’s wing. We should put the correct angle, with 165°in the nose and the end. In the middle we should put 155 °angel.
(1) Absolutely flat dihedral is required to make this fly right. The plane has to look like the letter T when viewed from the back.
(2) Too hard of a throw will ruin the flight, because the wings flex up (positive dihedral) with a really hard throw, and that kills the performance right off the bat. Too hard of a throw also tends to make the plane stall and this one doesn’t come out of a stall well.
(3) For optimal stability and distance, move the tip of that 1.5″ paper clip (I advise the kind with vinyl covers for extra grip and a little extra weight) a millimeter or two out past the tip of the plane’s nose.
(4) Now that I have the upper and lower wing surfaces taped together to reduce drag.
(5)The plane still has a marked tendency to veer to one side or the other if it loses speed. This is a good reason to keep (2) in mind (semi-stalling will make it swerve); small rudder corrections on the vertical stabilizer can help to offset that tendency, giving you maximum distance.

Using these ideas during a half hour of testing, I consistently achieved throws of 35-45 feet (throwing location to landing, not trying to measure curved flight paths) on a windless evening; the best throw of all went 54 feet.
The wings can’t be too thin, if the wings is big, the plane can glide further.
The material should be light and not too soft.
The KNO3 and C6H12O6 is mixed with the rate 3:2(mass) better.
If the head of plane is too heavy, it’s very easy to fall.
The first plane could fly steady. That plane I just cut a little paper in the front of paper plane. The second plane, I cut more paper in the front of paper plane. It was easily to down. The second plane could not keep the original shape, when it flew. It could not resist air obstructed it flew fluently. The middle of paper plane was easily opened by air flow. The third plane we used paper jam to make paper plane. It was too heavily for flew and could not keep the shape of paper plane basically. The final paper plane, I adopted paper plane folding on the Internet. I pressed every folding lines headlong. Its centre of gravity leaning the front of paper plane. It flies steady and far. It flew almost 7 metres.

First of all, I used the Internet to find information, I saw a lots of drafts, I chose some of them looks perfect，I put them into a total draft, When I was trying to fly the plane, I found a good way to balance the plane, fold the paper in the middle.
At first, I use A4 paper to two make paper plane. Each of I used my finger to press the folding lines. And I cut two parts of paper plane in the front of paper plane. It did not influence paper plane’s flight, this way can mitigate paper plane’s weight make it fly more farther. The first time I tried to fly it. Not so the result, it flew about 6 or 7 meters far. After that I cut more parts of paper plane in the front of paper plane. But it lost so much weight so that I could not fly. I looked a kind of paper on the ground. So I adopted it to make. It may be used to sketch. The paper was triple A4 paper’s. It was hard than A4 and hard to fold. It could not fly at all.
Construction in-process: I hear easy to fold a paper plane, but if you want to make the distance that the plane fly 15 m long, it won’t simple. I fold a tradition paper plane like this, it’s very easy to fold, however, its top is too light, it’s hard to fly 15 m long. Then I search in the internet and found some useful information, such as the materials are A4 paper and kt board best. The A4 paper’s size is appropriate to fold paper plane, and the kt board is light, hard and reliable. I chose the A4 paper because it’s easy to find. What else important thing is that all the crevice of paper plane had better be glued. That can decrease the drag force of air. Finally I made this prefect paper plane that I think, not short, not long, not big, not small, perfect build, golden ratio. I call it silent glider, it can fly 15 m long certainly, I try it, so I believe. This is a interesting project,our group enjoyed it all the time.
In order to make this paper plane, I use many time, I try many time. Finally, I am successes. First, I just choose a A4 paper, and fold a paper, but it just can fly 13meters, then I stare to reach some useful thing in the internet. I discover, I should let the nose of the plane heavy then it body and the nose of the plane can not break. If I do not do that, it will be not balance. Then I try to put some heavy and solid things on it nose. But it still can not balance. It can not gliding. Then I try to put something on it wing .just for make the plane drop slowly. But it still can not fly 15 meters. Then I stare find what problem I have. I find some in formation about the air flow, I find the answer, I should make the angle of the nose to the end with 165 °.the middle of the plane with 155°angle. No only this, I also find some information about how to fly it, I make the plane above the horizontal, maybe 4 °, it can make a prefect plane. And it can fly very longtime and very far.

Refining the Design or Redesign (3pts)
Based on your tests, what design refinements should be made to your paper plane.
I began to search information about paper plane. Before that i knew a nice paper plane should be light and keep its shape when it fly. It should be light. But it can’t lose too much weight. And its weight should concentrate in front of paper plane. When you fold paper plane. You should press it so hard. Because you must make it keep shape. I think the paper plane’s wings should be double the part of you hold.
Light, hard,golden percentage that are a nice paper plane should be have .
