'what causes insanity? The sensations are real enough, but the condition the patient makes out of nothing at all'.
I had yet to learn of my real mind. It is a matter of purity, intellect, though everyone has one. Intellect is consciousness.. Actually, 'the mind in its aspect of knowing or understanding, but not of feeling or willing'. Non-action. Or, pure consciousness, when it acts, is mind plus political ideals; for we do not believe in purist morality, but regard a person's politics as their ethics.
Without the attribute of non-action, we would not have non-attachment, and without non-attachment, we couldn't be objective, and therefore be unable to act ethically.
But the insane attach to their sensations. That is where the emotional troubles come in. If we didn't attach to our sensations, and hold them to be absolutely true, we wouldn’t go insane.
The sensations are most likely true, we gather as much through connecting signs. Since the world is real, our senses are reliable. This means even the vaguest, most unclear, sense impressions have accuracy. Science being valid, I think all our impressions are true.
So, I know. I could be insane, wrong; but why? The obscurest and clearest sense-data, are they the same thing? Science, to be consistent, and reality is consistent, says yes. Hilly country and plateu are the same, real.
I couldn't handle what I knew. It was too painful. The government, capitalism, other people. That's how I went insane. Then i doubted it all. I looked at all sensations as unclear and hence unknown. I became subjective.
Yet, science. Now I see, let the sensations be true, but practice pure mind, non-attachment. Practice non-desire; for desire is the source of attachment.beebe
Once I knew the unclear sensations to be true, and knew the formal definition of mind and morality to be non-action , non-desire, my paranoia basically passed.
