statement of the problem:
build a solar cooker that can concentrate solar energy and them use it to cook.
Car make the temperatures up to 120 degrees Celsius.
An egg cooks at 70 degrees Celsius.
Part2: research Our outline design:
Solar energy is an infrared radiant energy. This energy can be used the radiation to spread. Solar energy also can be used in our life now. Generally, we can use solar energy to generate electricity or use it as a water heater to offer the energy. In the ancient, people know use solar energy to make food. We also should use solar energy to cook some food. The theory of using solar energy is photo thermal conversion and photoelectric converting. we should choose photo thermal conversion to cook the food. We will make a solar cooker. It means let the UV light rays in and they will be converted to so long infrared light rays that it can’t escape. There are three different ways to make solar cooker. The first way is solar panel cooker. The second way is solar parabolic cooker. The third way is solar box cooker. we will choose the second one. The reason is that the shape of solar parabolic cooker is simple to make. Also it is easier to reflect the light.
We plan to reflect the sunshine to the same point, so that the temperature of there will rise up. We found that the space between metal atoms is smaller than most kind of electromagnetic wave length in our daily life. And sunshine is a kind of electromagnetic wave, so all of the electromagnetic wave of sunshine will be reflected by this kind of paper. Then we chose a kind of “paper” that made of metal--- smooth aluminum foil to reflect the sunshine (collect solar energy). Because the space between aluminum atoms is also smaller than electromagnetic wave length, the aluminum foil more smooth, the reflectivity will be stronger, and the main reason is that aluminum foil is easy to buy. We don’t need to think about outside material, aluminum foil will reflect the all the heat, the outside material will not be affected too much, so we chose the cardboard. About the food container, we want to use the same material, because we thought after the light be reflected into the container that with the aluminum foil inside, the light will be reflected again and again, so the heat in the container will become more and more, the temperature will become higher and higher. If the heat can't be kept, we will put a heat conductive material in the food container.
To design the model, we have to prepared enough aluminum foil. The aluminum foil can be reflected in a lot of the sun, that is our aim. And let them come together at one point. In our opinion, we want to let it be designed as a half ellipsoid shape model like the umbrella. But it is not entirely like the umbrella. We do some change of our design and repeat it again. Collected from all directions to the sun. try to approach the limited to let the margin be large. But let the inside be small. so it will take the form like the trumpet. Try to Shrinkage the opening, so the sun can reflect the bottom center. And then find the point in the sunshine together, put a container, we put the food in this way, the temperature rise will make eggs cooked.
