Step 1: Look at the photo you have chosen. Write why you are drawn to the photo along with your initial reaction to it.
My first reaction to this photo was to cry, you can feel the father's pain.
Step 2: Write or identify what you literally see in the photo.
I see a father holding his dead son that could've been no older than 12.
Step 3: Place yourself in the scene. Describe the photo using sensory details.
The man is crouched down crying over the lifeless body of his son. There are people standing still in the distance which means he's all alone in possible the worst moment of his life.
Step 4: Analyze the photo using the elements of photography such as lighting, angle, perspective, and so on. You may choose to do a little research on elements of photography to aid you on this step.

On October 3rd, 2012 The life of a young Syrian boy was taken away from him by the Syrian Army. In the photo the young boy, no older than 12, is lying lifeless and bloody in the arms of his heart broken father.
