What are the taboos broken by Tevye’s three daughters?
The taboo of chosing the husband-wife by decision of matchmaker is broken first of all. Moreover, daughters have shown that they can love someone by themselves.
What other taboos were broken?
Dancing with other women taboo was also broken. Respect to the matchmaker has been decreased by Tevye’s family.
What caused Tevye to accept them?
Tevye made very logical brain storms himself. He looked all the aspects of these marriages but finally he decided to let them to engage because of their affection to each other.
What would you do in his place? Which ones would you accept? Which ones wouldn’t you accept? Why?
Actually it is a very hard decision to make for me either. However, I thınk that the all people should be allowed to make his/her own decisions which will affect their whole lifes and even also affect their children’s lifes. Therefore, I would let all of them to marry whoever they want with reminding all possible consequences I see.
