In 21st century, with the growing number of people and the daily increased environmental problems which led to the inventions of thousands high-tech products. In this project, our group is going to explore how to make an electrical generator using wind energy. As we all know, the wind energy is renewable and clean. Initially, we did some research about how could wing generate electricity. The wind with a minimum velocity of 3 inches per second is able to generate electricity. A machine will be used to speed-up the rotation of the wind mills. Due to the uncertainty of the electricity that the wind mills would generate, it can only generate the alternating current of about 20v which asked the wind driven generators consist with a storage batteries to transform the AC to the 220v current that people use in China.
In China, the biggest wind energy plant will be established in Wuhan. In order to make the system most efficiently. The location need to be chose carefully. The standard asked the wind mills build on the plain where has abundant wind resource. Also, the wind need to be able to spin the blades . Then, the wind mill can keep rotating and generate electricity. There would be a generator in the system that convey the kinetic energy into electricity. The one that we are going to do also need to equip with a simple one .
For the renewable energy system we are going to build, the wind mills are the most important parts. It is not about how fast the wind is, but the the value of torque “the measure ability of a rotation element, as of a gear or shaft, to overcome turning resistance.’’ ( www.dictionary.com/browse/torque) From the information we got, the blade should be strong but flexible, which means it cannot be heavy or made by dense materials. Generally, our wind energy system is consist by the wind wheel ,dynamo , turning machine (empennage) ,tower , speeding limiting device and energy storing device （ : www.baidubaike.com ） . It can divide into 12 main parts , they are cabin , rotor vane , axes , low speed shaft , gear case , mechanical valve ,dynamo , yaw equipment electronic control unit , hydraulic system, tower anemograph and the wind indicator （ http://dq.zhulong.com/ ） . Since we only need to build a simple one. The material and the structure of the wind energy system might change. The main material we decided to use is plastic, it is light but hard which can satisfy our need.
Unlike the simple system we are going to make, the wind energy converting process take a long time. It is not only about the turbine. The transforming and transportation of wind powered energy is more complicated then other approaches. Even wind energy is totally environmental friendly, it is still not widespread in the world for many other reasons.
We hope that the wind energy can really change people’s future life.
