A great number of different reasons are threatening and destroying our Coral Reef Ecosystems.my topic of this essay is about some threats in Coral Reef.
The first part to solve this problem, we should know more knowledges about Coral Reefs, I have logged in a website which is NOAA’s official website, NOAA(National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) is an American scientific agency focused on the conditions of the oceans and the atmosphere.
“Appearing as solitary forms in the fossil record more than 400 million years ago, corals are extremely ancient animals that evolved into modern reef-building forms over the last 25 million years. Coral reefs are unique (eg.the largest structures on earth of biological origin) and complex systems. Rivaling old growth forests in longevity of their ecological communities, well-developed reefs reflect thousands of years of history”
http://www.coris.noaa.gov/about/what_are/Turgeon and Asch, in press).
“Coral is the ocean organism which can absorb Ca and CO2 in the water to grow up and survive. they are tiny and living together with a group,When they died , and produced limestone continuously together. The limestone after compacted ,Tiny corals forming islands and reefs”
http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/interactive/2009/sep/02/coral-world-interactive"Coral reefs around the world".Guardian.co.uk. September 2, 2009.)
“Boundary for 20 °C isotherms. Most corals live within this boundary which are tropical ocean area, and their main zone is around Australia .Most require very salty (saline) water ranging from 32 to 42 parts per thousand. The water must also be clear to permit high light penetration.”
http://www.coris.noaa.gov/about/what_are/ and Parsons, 1995).
Compared with the pre-industrial level, Now,coral slow down the speed of their bones. When the concentration of carbon dioxide decrease to 560 PPM, It will cause the reef stop growing and begin to dissolve.Coral reefs be acidize means die out.

Especially tropical coral adaptation ability is weak, they extremely be hurt by surface temperature ofsea. Most of animals whom living in coral will gone when the water temperature increased.
In particular, coral mining, agricultural and urban runoff, pollution (organic and inorganic), overfishing, blast fishing, disease, and the digging of canals and access into islands and bays are localized threats to coral ecosystems.
The influence of Cyanide to the coral reef ecosystem is cruel, it will kill the corals and other animals. At the same time ,It is harm for the whole ecosystem and break the balance of the ocean animals.
And the Coral Reefs are considered as most important and ancient Ecosystems in our daily life, also are the most estimable Ecosystems in the earth It means the color of reef turned white. Scientists know that bleaching leaves corals vulnerable to disease, stunts their growth, and affects their reproduction, while severe bleaching kills them.
Here are three choices to dealing with the catastrophic shifts in ecosystems, and I wrote down them and their positives and negatives.
1) the President of the United States established the Coral Reef Task Force (CRTF) to protect and conserve coral reefs :Monitoring, research, and restoration all are essential to safeguard coral reefs. However, to ultimately protect coral reefs, legal mechanisms may be necessary. One legal mechanism involves the establishment of marine protected areas (MPAs). Because MPAs have the added force of law behind them, a protected marine enclosure—such as a coral reef system—may stand a better chance for survival.
Government representatives: Demand they take action to protect coral reefs, stop sewage pollution of our oceans, expand marine protected areas and take steps to reverse global warming.
Under this program, NOAA works with scientific, private, government, and nongovernmental organizations to achieve the goals of the CRTF.
Positive: It can protect the coral reef ecosystems powerful, and can prevent a great number of ocean animals from dying out. That’s will be more official, and have binding force on people's behavior.
2) Conserve water: The less water you use, the less runoff and wastewater will pollute our oceans. everyone in the public should raise awareness of environmental preservation/protection, thereby promoting sustainable development and creating a more livable inhabitable environment. Government sets forth preliminary measures for marine pollution prevention, coastal zone resource exploitation and marine environmental protection.
Positive: reefs living in the sea and ocean, most ocean lives and animals need to be save. All the ocean animals and plants are a cycle to adapt together. Ocean is their habitat like our home.
Negative(about 1 and 2): There is no harm to protect the environment ,These are the best and useful choices to dealing with the problem.
3) Being a Responsible Tourist: People can also damage coral reefs simply by touching them. Corals on reefs are actually small animals. This living ecosystem is thus very fragile and susceptible to damage. The coral animals are not mobile.
Don't purchase coral souvenirs. You shouldn't take anything out of the ocean that's alive, or buy it in a store, either. In some countries, you will find jewelry and other souvenirs made out of coral. Don't buy them.
http://www.wikihow.com/Protect-Coral-ReefsIt is illegal to sell coral in some countries. Coral can take a long time to grow, so taking it for your aquarium or jewelry box can have a lasting effect that will take years to undo. Red and pink coral is especially prized as jewelry because of its coloring. It comes from deeper waters.
Positive: To protect the lives of coral, and teach public buying souvenirs reasonable and practical.
Negative: To some extent, The tourist economy of coral reefs is being destroyed and it is bad for economy.
Above the choices, The best one is protect the environment. the economy can grow on the basis of environmental protection .We advocate strict control of pollution to protect environment. I believe we should work together to protect our environment.
This essay mainly includes the basic knowledge of the coral reefs and the introduction of environment, now, the coral reefs are threatened. Some choices were given to dealing with the catastrophic shifts in ecosystems. And discusses the positive effect and negative effect of choices with this problem.https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/agriculture/sustainable-farming/reef-protection/https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/agriculture/sustainable-farming/reef-protection/
