Becoming a coach
First game of the season Saturday December 3, 2106 11:00-12:30 (a hour and a half)
Activity- The first regular season game was upon us. We played the 8th grade Roswell Hornets. As we warmed up coach Larry said to the players “nobody is entitled to anything its all about listening and following directions.”
Commentary- I also said a few words to the team before the game started; We have to play together and communicate to be successful throughout the season, Now go out there and have fun. I had never coached before it was different feeling than playing but I was still nervous. We started off the game slow but once the second half started and we made adjustments and starting having fun and ended up winning the game by 18 points.
Stats and score of our first game
In the top picture it shows the final score of our first game it was a great start to the season defeating Roswell by 18.
In the bottom picture it shows each players stats. Keon led the way and 18 points with the help of Cole's 11 point game the guard play helped led us to a W.
Second Game before Christmas break Wednesday December 14, 2016 6:45pm-8:15 pm (a hour and a half)
Activity- The second game of the season was against North Forsyth 8th graders at home. Coming out with a good win last week against Roswell we plan on keeping it up this week against North. We came out strong and breezed through this game the great thing about is everyone got to play since we lead the whole game and ended up winning by 30 points.
Commentary- I knew we were good but, we started off better than I thought. Although, we aren’t the biggest team, our guard play and speed made up for it. At the half coach Larry told the team “don’t let up show them whose house it is”.
In this photo coach called a timeout because North Forsyth tried to build a comeback, so coach called a full timeout to make adjustments. After the time out we scored 3 straight baskets to turn up are momentum we had before.
3rd game after break Sunday January 15th 4:45pm-6:45pm (2 hours)
Activity- Our 3rd game after break was 45 minutes away in Hiram Georgia against Campbell 8TH graders unfortunately we drove all the way there for an L. we ended up losing by 9 we started off slow and fought back in the second half but their wasn’t enough time to amount our comeback.
Commentary- I feel like the break slowed down our momentum after not picking up a ball for a while and we just didn’t come prepared, by the time we attempted to bounce back it was already too late. I feel like I could’ve done a better job prepping them during warm ups so, we could’ve came out faster something I had to work on being that I’m still learning how to coach.
