Becoming a coach
Sunday, January 29 6:45pm-8:15pm
An hour and half
Last game of the regular season
Activity: Today was the last game of the regular season against Lassiter. After warming up before the game started, coach told the team “this is the last game of the regular season at home lets go out there and execute the offense and play together and most importantly have fun, now go show them who’s house it is.”
Commentary: As I was thinking to myself, after coaches wise words said to the team should I be writing this down. I knew we needed to finish strong so we could go into the post season with a chip on our shoulder .
We took a team photo right before our last game against Lassiter. We played solid the whole game and ended up winning by 24
First playoff game
Saturday, February 11 2:30pm-4:15pm an hour and 45 minutes
Activity- The start of the post season was among us. Our first game was against our old rivalry Woodstock. This was the teams first game back since, they won the 8th grade championship for E.T. Booth.
Commentary- I was extremely nervous because it was my first post season experience as a coach and the first time we played Woodstock we lost by 5. Despite my nervousness, I knew we had a good chance of winning, because we had momentum going into the game. Us playing Woodstock made us want it even more, because at this point in the season its either go big or go home. Woodstock ended up going home once the clock hit zero.
Kolby hit 2 clutch free throws to seal the deal, against Woodstock and we ended up winning the game 45-44. it was long game but, we came out on top and brought home the W.
Last game of the season
Sunday, February 12 2:45pm-4:30pm an hour and a half
Activity- we had back to back games, on Saturday we played North Forsyth and on Sunday we played johns creek in the elite 8. Unfortunately we came up short and ended up losing by 8 points.
Commentary- I knew going into the game that johns creek was pretty good, because I did the clock for there game on Saturday, which they won by 10 points . We ended up finishing the season 8-5 and lost in the elite 8 against johns creek. We had a successful season and I learned a lot along the way.
Coach texted me and Tim asking us what awards should go to players we think deserved it. It made me actually feel like a coach making these decisions.
