College Argument Essay
To what extent is a traditional college education valuable to the Millennial generation? Does every graduating senior need to attend college? In my opinion, traditional college is somewhat valuable to the millennial generation, but now a day with as many other options as we have college is not so valuable as it was to the generation before us. No every graduating senior does not need to attend college and you will see why in this essay.
In today’s generation there is many different options besides college which might be one of the reasons college is not as valuable as it was in the past. Now you can go to trade schools (Basic College Information Power Point). You can work in places where you don’t need to have a degree and back then it was made like you need to have a degree in order to have a job, but that has been proven false. Way back when college seemed like the only option for people and there weren’t many trade schools and back then college was cheaper. Some may find college unavailable to them and don’t care at all or they care the most because they believed that might be there only option. Some might also think college isn’t valuable because knowing they can’t afford it pushes it out of their minds as a want in life. People also forget that you can attend junior college first in order to bring the price of a four year or if they’re not quite sure what they want to major in. Though college is a valuable thing and is sometimes taken for granted not all think so.
Not every graduating senior needs to go to college. Especially not right away many take “gap years” which is a year, maybe more maybe less, where people take time off to go travel and such before going away to college. They want to experience life to the fullest by the time they have to settle down and be serious about school. (Not going to college is a viable option) Plus many forget that college is not the only option. Many people attend trade schools and tech schools where you don’t need to even have a diploma to attend and they can help you find jobs where you don’t need to have a degree which for some is convenient. College also isn’t for everyone some might find schooling the most dreadful thing ever and would figure it a waste of time to try and attend especially when they have a don’t care attitude.
College to my generation has its ups and downs in thoughts and to some is the most valuable thing and to others is worthless. To me college is incredibly valuable for my future and my parents have made it that way also. I do think it’s better if you attend college after high school, but you most definitely don’t need to.
