taSenior Capstone Career Project - Product Work Log
Name: Sarah Sharp
Product: Window Treatment
Date, Time, & Location:
December 20, 2016
Activity: We discussed my senior project. I told her kind of what I envisioned but told her I was unsure of the design but I knew that type of window I wanted it for. She then showed me a catalog from her work and showed me different things they do at her work and helped explain to me all the different types. She then showed me a few curtains she had made that were hanging around her house.
Commentary: Meeting with my facilitator to just discuss ideas gave me a good idea of what I wanted to do. It also comforted to me to know that she had a lot of knowledge that could help me broaden my knowledge. She was also very kind and was welling to help me figure out my design.
Total Time Thus Far:
January 3, 2017
Activity: I spent a couple hours researching the different styles of draperies and researching about the process of how to make each one. I then watched many videos of people sewing draperies so that I could get a good idea of how it is done.
Commentary: I learned during my research that sewing draperies could be very different compared to sewing clothes, which I have done in the past. I also begun to realize that I need to figure out the design and color scheme of my draperies.
Activity: I researched more on different styles of curtains. My facilitator then helped me draw a rough sketch of my design for my curtain.
Commentary: This really helped me get more of an insight on what my plans were for my project.
Fabric and Fringe
Activity: I went and looked at supplies for my curtains and browsed prices and patterns with my facilitator. I picked up several samples so I could compare them in the living space where the curtain will be.
Commentary: This gave me a better idea of how much I will be spending and made me start thinking of how many supplies I need. As well as what patterns and designs I want for my curtain or if I want to go with a solid curtain.
Activity: I talked to my facilitator and we concluded on how much materials and what materials we need exactly.
Commentary: This was a very important meeting. I got to discuss important information. I had already looked and thought about materials but I did need my facilitator to approve my thought and make sure it was okay.
Activity: I went back to Fabric and Fringe and bought all my supplies for my product.
Commentary: I am now ready to begin working on my project.
Activity: We measured, cut, and completed the curtain.
Commentary: There were many obstacles and it was very tedious.
Activity: We made my story board.
Commentary: It is now completed and I am very satisfied.
