“American Sniper” written by Chris Kyle is a story one of the most lethal snipers in American history, he was not only famous in his country but also among his enemies in Afghanistan.
My book takes place in Afghanistan in 2001-2009. In 1999 Kyle went to the Navy SEALs training course, BUDS. Kyle was stationed in Ramadi, Kabul, Baghdad, Fallujah. All the places he was in were either swampy or a dessert. It was hard to get water and food but even harder to hide from the enemy. It was however easy for the enemy to plant IED bombs and other types of landmines. The enemy could hide easily because they were used to the landscape. Chris Kyle excelled in this landscape because he was trained to make sniper hides out of sand and duct tape. He also used the bareness of the landscape to his advantage. He flew an American flag to draw enemy fire and make them show his position.
Omitting a character would be hard because it’s an autobiography, but if I had to I would choose I would pick Marcus Lutterell, because he doesn’t play a very big roll but the author talks a lot about him unnecessarily. He isn’t very important because he plays a very small roll and is part of the other seal team in the area. He is the sniper in the other seal team and gets a bounty put on his head and he and Kyle fight to get the bigger bounty. The author uses 3 chapters talking about him and it’s not necessary at all.
