Hi my name is Omar Languren.
For my Senior Capstone Career Project I chose to volunteer at the Special Olympics.
My research was about autism and the effects.
Discovered it doesn’t develop until the age of two.
Learned the effects of autism and how it affects the brain.
My facilitators name is Marty Korb.
He is a member of Nights of Columbus at the church of Lady of Lasalette.
How to communicate with autistic children.
I plan to go to the University of Northwestern Ohio.
Become an automotive technician.
The ring toss was one of the areas I was designated to by my facilitator. I was instructed to help out the children and adults with the game. This game was very difficult for some of the children and adults due to the size of the rings.
Bowling was the most enjoyable to the children and adults because it was easy and effortless. The children and adults just kept coming back nonstop.
For football all we had to do was show the children and adults how to throw the ball. I also had to retrieve the balls for the participants.
I had to announce the winning team of a couple games. The game I was not issued was bocce. Bocce is a game where you have to get the ball as close as possible to the pallino. The photo on the bottom right corner were the 2nd place winners.
This is a simulation of what it is like for some people with autism in daily situations.
