STRATEGIC PURPOSE OF MEMBERS OF STAFF
SCHOOL GOVERNORS: The school governors are people who have the responsibility of running the school and work and support the head teacher. They are volunteers who have links with the school or local community. These people work with the head teacher, but also ask questions and make sure the school is going in the right direction. The school governors have a say on how funding is spent throughout the school and a say on recruitment and be on an interview board. They set aims and objectives for the school and new targets and adapt new policies to achieve the targets.
SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM: The senior management team will include deputy head teachers and year group leaders. These people will cover in the absence of the head or deputy. They have regular meetings with the head to discuss any issues or decisions concerning the running of the school and discuss how this information will be passed around the school so every member of staff is made aware of any changes.
OTHER STATUTORY ROLES eg: SENCO: There are two other main staffing roles in schools which are SENCO and the Foundation Stage Manager. The SENCO will ensure liaison is done with parents and other professionals in respect of their children with Special Needs. Make sure every child has their own individual education plan, making sure it is up to date at all times and support other practitioners in the area. Foundation Stage Manager must make sure that EYFS is been to the requirements of the EYFS. They must make sure that all assessments, record keeping and observations are up to date as well as making sure all staff is trained in its implementation.
TEACHERS: Teachers have a big responsibility in schools. They have to plan the lessons, lead the classes and oversee the TA. Also making sure that the lessons follow the national curriculum, monitor and support children in their class noticing if any child requires extra support. They also need to make sure that certain policies are carried out within their class like health and safety, behaviour and noticing anything different about a child from their normal manner.
SUPPORT STAFF ROLES: In schools there many different types of support roles. These are:
Midday Supervisors/ Catering Staff
Office and Administrative Staff
Learning Mentors and Parent Support Helpers
Teaching Assistants will help support the teachers and the children, supervise various activities and carry out all different types of duties. They will be an extra pair of eyes in the class monitoring behaviour and checking how the children are coping with their work and reporting to the teacher if they find anyone struggling and finds it hard to understand the work that they should be doing.
