Dear Dr. Schlissel:
I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Nicholas Imboden and I am a 17-year-old high school student from the small town of Niceville, Florida. I am writing to let you know how fascinated I am by your work on B lymphocytes and their relation to cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma.
Your work is truly an inspiration to me and the success of your career really motivates me to excel in my rigorous course load, because I aspire to become like you one day. As I was researching your work I came across the recombination-activating genes and their effects on V(D)J recombination. Since my discovery of the medical possibilities of RAG1 and RAG2 I have been enthralled by your work and have even begun to read some of your publications on the matter. Your work against debilitative diseases is groundbreaking and while I am just a teenager I would like to join a research hospital and help fight them myself once I have obtained the necessary skills. Sir, as a genuine fan of your accomplishments could I request an autograph? I intend to apply to the University of Michigan this fall and attend as a Biology major for the class of 2022. My father grew up in Detroit a devout Michigan fan and I aspire to make him proud by working hard to get accepted to the university.
I hope that you enjoyed receiving this letter as much as I have enjoyed learning about your work. I have enclosed a self-addressed stamped envelope should you choose to respond. Have a great day sir and I hope to hear from you soon.
