Plantation Programme Progress Review
A total of 130500 forest plants and 6600 fruit plants have been recommended for 360 acres at Bajaur Agency for two tehsils by HUJRA with the funding support of UNWFP/SDC in the project “DRR & Livelihood initiative to strengthen the affected community in FATA”. Two segments were covered under this program, Afforestation (Forestry) and Fruit Orchard (Horticulture). For the aforementioned purpose, HUJRA with the technical support of Forest and Agriculture Departments have delivered the following cadre trainings/sessions and practical demonstrations.
Orientation sessions/practical demonstration on Afforestation have been started in two working tehsils of Bajaur Agency from 27/01/2017 while covering the following topics,
General Forestry & tree importance (social, economic, environmental and Islamic)
Sessions on lay out and pit specification
Practical demonstration on lay out and pit formation
Afforestation and soil conservation
Plantation type, pattern, & composition suitable for DRR and watershed management strategic point of view
Fruit Orchard (Horticulture)
Fruit orchard sessions covering the following curriculum started from 26/01/2017.
General Agriculture & fruit tree importance
Lay out and pit specification
Fruit Orchard and resource conservation
Fruit tree tending & cultural operations
Pit digging practical demonstration
Session on Fruit Orchard (Horticulture)
