Safety glasses are to be worn in all areas of the plant, including the safety aisles. The only places where safety glasses are not required is the lunchroom, restrooms, & offices.
For associates that have prescription glasses, over the lens safety glasses will be required unless prescription safety glasses that meet OSHA requirements are met.
All visitors & suppliers are to comply to the safety glasses policy. It is the responsibility of the Plastilite host to make sure visitors & suppliers are complying.
Follow the company No Smoking Policy (inside the plant).
Steel toe safety shoes are required for all Forklift Drivers, Maintenance Manager & Associates, Setup & Processing Associates, Gel Line Associates, & Supervisors. Plastilite assists in reimbursing a partial cost of steel toe shoes, up to $90 every two years.

Long hair must be tied up to shoulder length so as not to risk getting caught in a piece of equipment.
Lock Out- Tag Out procedures are to be strictly followed. Violations of LOTO could result in disciplinary actions up to & including termination.
Cell phone use is strictly prohibited inside of the plant. Only authorized associates are allowed to use cell phones for company business such as supervisors & managers.
Use of headphones, earplugs, or other similar devices are strictly prohibited.
Hearing protection is available & must be worn when sound & frequency levels are high. Your Supervisor will advise you when hearing protection is necessary.
When issued tools for your job, they are to be used in the manner that they are intended to be used. All tools that are not working properly or broken must be turned in the Supervisor immediately.
No equipment is to be operated unless all safety guards, safety covers, & safety mechanisms are working properly. All equipment that is not properly guarded or has safety mechanism defects are to be reported to the Supervisor immediately.
For Associates who are welding, compliance to the welding procedures are to be strictly followed including any necessary permit that is required.
No earrings or body piercings that protrude from the body are allowed in the plant. Stud earrings & wedding bands are permitted.
All accidents, no matter the severity, are to be reported to the Supervisor immediately. First aid may be administered or else associate may be transported to a medical center.
No short shorts, speedos, torn shorts, or hot pants are allowed in the plant.
The length of shorts is to be a maximum of 2 inches above the knee or at the end of your fingers when standing straight up.
No dresses or skirts are allowed outside of the offices. This includes suppliers, visitors, & office personnel.
No yoga pants.
Sweat pants are allowed provided they are in good condition & do not have holes.
Jeans with excessive holes are not allowed in the plant.

A plain cotton T-shirt or polo is recommended.
No halter tops, muscle shirts, strapless blouses, or tube tops.
No bare midriffs, chests, or shoulders.
Tank tops & blouses must have at least 2 inch straps (no spaghetti straps).
Flat shoes with oil resistant soles are recommended.
Shoes should be constructed of a sturdy material and not easily torn. Tennis shoes, running shoes, or work boots are recommended.
No shoes with more than 1” heels are allowed in the plant.
No open toed or open heeled shoes are allowed in the plant.
Steel toe safety shoes must be worn by the following associates: Forklift Drivers, Maintenance Manager & Associates, Setup & Processing Associates, Gel Line Associates, & Supervisors.
Jewelry should not be worn in the plant, except for one wedding ring.
Baseball caps are allowed provided they do not have graphics that are considered offensive & do not reflect our professional image.
Excessive baggy or loose clothing is not allowed, as it could get caught in equipment.
No eating in the plant.
No open drink containers allowed in the plant. All drink containers must have a lid to avoid spillage. Sport bottles are recommended.
It is important that we practice good hygiene routines, as our containers are used for food packaging.

Everything in the work area should have a designated place & everything should be in its place.

Entire work area must be clean.
A clean workplace enhances quality, safety, & pride.
Use preventative measures to keep the work area from getting dirty.
5-S 4. Standardize: Everyone doing things the same way
Every process has a standard.
Standardize the best practices in the work area.
Standardize workstation layout where possible.
5-S 5. Sustain: maintain & review standards
Keep maintaining the 5-S process.
Everyone at all levels of the organization.
Before leaving work for the day, ensure that the plant meets 5-S principles.
