Hello, My name is Mckenzie White. I am planning on studying to receive a bachelor, and hopefully masters degree in international business. With this degree I plan on traveling and advising companies how to budget and spend their financials. My senior project was leading a Junior Girl Scout troop to get their Bronze Award, the highest award the Junior Girl Scouts can obtain.
The paper topic I chose was ‘Youth Development in Communities’. This includes the importance of the involvement of youth in every community around the world. Interaction is prosperous not only for the youth by creating skills and values but also to help build the community as a better place for future generations. This improves overall behavior and appreciation for their environment and community support. Lastly, this is a building block for their life as they learn to not only to value their community but the world.
So for my project I chose to get involved in my community! And not only aid myself but aid other younger girls in the community, The Girl Scouts. I have learned that it's important for the youth to get involved it's the adults responsibility to get them to these events and places. They cannot do it on their own and i gained an appreciation to the mothers who got their girls involved. They made the time out of their busy lives which for me was also difficult balancing school work and these service hours. Some problems I came across would have to be behavior, we actually had to take a break from working on our journey to work on sisterhood skills and how to respect others. Which the girls did a great job; we all need reminders sometimes though! Overall the girls not only learned how to respect theirself and their friends but also how to respect their community!
The biggest advantage of this project to help me build leadership skills! A plethora of leadership careers could arise from this project. It could lead me into being some sort of counsellor to a CEO. I have discovered that as much as I enjoyed working with the wonderful preteens, working with children at that age at least would not be a good career choice for me. The head of a big company is definitely the career path for me, as I have decided to study international business at Valdosta State University.
The Senior Project definitely was not something I would have chose to do on my own, but it pushed me to get involved with my community. I am so grateful of the opportunity given to me and the skills I gained will help me through not only my career endeavors but through all social interactions. It lastly taught me the importance of your community and how much they support you, just like you! Thank you so much for your time! I hope you enjoyed my project!
