Sodium is the most abundant salt in the ocean, salts enter the ocean because of the erosion of rocks, volcanic eruptions, the breaking down of marine animals shells, and when rivers flow into them carrying salt along with it.
The higher the salinity the more dense the water is because, salt molecules are heavier than water molecules.
Sub-Tropical areas have a higher salinity than areas at the equator because, it rains more at the equator which dilutes its and decreases salinity.
North Atlantic Deep Water and Antarctic Intermediate Water override Antarctic Bottom Water because, the Antarctic Bottom water is significantly colder and cold water is much more dense than warm water which causes it to sink below the other to masses of water.
Whether or not cold freshwater is more denser than warm saltwater depends on how salty the saltwater is.

Wind pushes the surface of the water which creates energy that is transferred to the ocean, the water moves in a circular motion until the energy passes but it never really moves forward.
The height of a wave depends on wind speed, the duration of the wind blowing, the surface area of the water that the wind is blowing upon.
Spring tides are caused by the gravitational pull of the sun, moon, and the earth. A spring tide has the highest waves because the moon, sun, and earth are all aligned which combines their gravity and causes bigger waves, Neap tides have lower waves because the earth, sun, and moon are not aligned which causes the waves to be lower.
Upwelling waters are always cold because they come from the bottom of the ocean where the colder more dense water is.
I think if the upwelling is stopped the microorganisms will not have any nutrients to feed off of, and if the microorganisms don’t have anything to eat the they will decrease which in turn will decrease the the whole food chain.
