Walt Disney was the owner and the founder of the Disney enterprise. Disney created and developed the famous cartoon Mickey Mouse who he voiced himself. Disney also added many characters creating the empire in animation and television that is now known as Disney. Disney also created the amusement parks that are now known as one of the best places to go in the world, Disneyland. Disney has parks all around the world for people of all ages to enjoy. The Walt Disney company also runs the Disney Channel.
The situation I believe that pushed Walt Disney create and develop the Disney enterprise was when he was younger he started doing cartoons on film. He started a company called Laugh-O-Gram and the business was very popular. The company eventually became bankrupt which pushed Disney into the direction of making his booming business and great legacy.
The Walt Disney Company is founded by Walt and Roy Disney on October 16, 1923. The company once known as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio has a net worth of about 36 billion dollars. In 1928 the company released their first Mickey Mouse cartoon following characters like Pluto, Donald Duck and Goofy a few years later. It wasn’t until 1937 this animation company had huge success after releasing their first animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Now years later they sell books, dolls, figurines, tooth brushes and a various theme parks. Their success is due to the countless success they had with multiple animated films and cartoons following Snow White. Needless to say they now have fans all over the world that varies from adults to children.
Father was Elias Disney an Irish-Canadian and his mother, Flora Call Disney, was German-American.
Disney was one of five children, four boys one girl whom he lived with for most of his childhood in Marceline, Missouri, where he began drawing, painting and selling pictures to neighbors and family friends.
Disney attended McKinley High School in Chicago, where he took drawing and photography classes and was a contributing cartoonist for the school paper
At night, he took courses at the Chicago Art Institute.
At 16, Disney dropped out of school to join the Army but was rejected for being underage
Instead joined the Red Cross and was sent to France for a year to drive an ambulance.
Walt and Harman made a deal with a local Kansas City theater to screen their cartoons, which they called Laugh-O-Grams
The cartoons were hugely popular, and Disney was able to acquire his own studio
In 1923 however the company went bankrupt
In 1925 he created silly symphonies which included Mickey Mouse and newly developed friends

Produced $1.499 million despite the depression and won eight Oscars
What Made The Company Stand Out
What makes this company stand out is ultimately their success and how popular they’ve become. They have fans all over the world, all age groups and genders. Nonetheless they have become one of the most famous animation company in the world. They didn’t just stop at animation; making a theme park based on the films they have produced was a genius idea. Now they have theme parks in Florida, Japan, France, Hong Kong, China, California and Hawaii. Their business is worldwide and continues to thrive.
Walt Disney’s Characteristics
Three entrepreneurial characteristics that Walt Disney showed was:
1. Hard work- Even after his first company ‘ Laugh-O-Grams’ went bankrupt, he worked hard and out of it came the Disney enterprise.
2. Perseverance- On top of his company being bankrupt, a woman named Winkler and her husband Charles Mintz stole one of his characters and instead of giving up he thought up new characters such as his big hit Mickey Mouse
3. Creative- Shown through all his cartoons especially Mickey Mouse
