This is near the end of the season, and I’m very proud of how far the team has come throughout the year. They have impressed me with how they learned and grew as people and lacrosse players. I also discovered that I grew as a person and figured out how to communicate with younger kids as well as players, which will defn=initely help me in the long run.

This is in the middle of practice, Chase was having trouble understanding something that was in the drill and I helped him figure out the problem. Chase was definitely one of the most talented players on the team, and showing him how to figure something out made me feel good about my project because I felt like the players actually respected me and wanted to listen to what I had to say. This has helped me become a better person and teacher to younger kids and helped me realize how big of an influence I can be to so many young kids.

This is after practice and the coaches stayed for a meeting about how to improve the team. This is my project facilitator, Pete Villhauer. We went over strategies and how to defend against Woodstock’s high powered offense. This shows that I have improved with decision making and going through with things I wouldn’t have beforehand.

This is the last day of practice, and we just finished up. We have a game the next day, and we practiced hard today. After the post practice speech, where I told the players what they need to do in order to win but also have fun, two of the players asked to take a picture with me because of how much fun they had this season. This shows my growth because when I first started coaching I had a difficult time remembering their names, but now I know them as Chase and Carter. These two showed me that coaching isn’t just about showing up and teaching, but also about making connections and friendships. This also shows the triumph of finally finishing a three month season!
