While in the Marine Corps, I was the lead instructor for Call for Fire Procedure. While in this position I instructed and supervised classes for Marines on a daily basis by utilizing PowerPoint presentations along with lecturing. I was responsible for developing PowerPoint presentations, course structure, and providing verbal and written reports to the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in charge of the Mortar Section.
The Religion and Psychology departments at the University of Pikeville refined and polished my written communication. During this time, I read, analyzed, and wrote reports on various religious text and psychological research.
As a Non-Commissioned Officer in the Marine Corps I learned from some of the best leaders our country has to offer. I learned that the most important quality a leader can possess is the ability to inspire the people they lead.
I demonstrated my ability to be a leader by taking charge of the Forward Observer Section of my Platoon. I was in charge of Marines that held higher rank than myself by being assertive, responsible, and striving to possess higher knowledge of the position than my superiors.
While I was assigned to the Division Training Center at Camp Lejeune, I assumed the position of Lead Instructor for Call for fire Procedure. I was given this position because of my ability to organize and manage the course structure.
