Activity: Mr. Ramirez had called tree sound studios to know about the prices for studio time. It finds out that tree sound charges 60 dollars per hour. I told Mr. Ramirez I didn't have the money because I knew it was going to be very pricey. He understood and then we came up with a plan to do this at his at my house, but the bad thing about it was that he was going to let his 22 year old son Jorge help me since Mr. Ramirez was going to be around to help during the weekday. I thought it was a good idea because his son had also done music production for his senior project. Therefore Jorge came to my house and brought his pc and his mic as well since Jorge has a music software called, FL Studio 11. I showed him the beat on my laptop and told me there were some gaps on the beat so I transferred the beat to his pc, it took a few tries to attach to the template, but we eventually fixed it. He showed me how to equalize snares, hi-hats, drums, etc. so they wouldn't collide with other instruments and each other. It took about an hour to fix, but we got it done. When it was time to record we set up the mic in my closet and plugged it in through his pc, I also plugged in music headphones and disconnected the speaker from the Bluetooth. I kept messing up since I'm not very used to people looking at me when I sing or rhyme verses. I got a hook done, but decided to change it, so after I put a couple of verses and finished. All we had to do was mix and master. Jorge showed me how but this was a bit difficult since I was mixing the beat with the vocals, it took about 2 hours to record and another 2 for the mixing and mastering. It usually takes three, but somehow it took two hours.
Commentary: I just want to thank Mr. Ramirez for being patient and helping me with this fun project. It was an amazing journey. I've learned what's needed and what isn't in music. Also, Mr. Ramirez's son saved the day by helping me out when Mr. Ramirez was busy on that weekday. I can't to show my song to the judges.
