Life with 1 leg is not as hard as one would think, being in a wheel-chair dosen't mean you should give up on life. Yes in some case's i do need some help, but in general the only basic difference is the height of all of the item's you need to reach. I live in apartment and manage it one my own, and i'm doing just fine. My apartment is located through goverment assisted program, along with others in this building. Some of the apartments are made for those who are handicaped, most how-ever are not, mine is not and I'm just fine with that. I do have a Aide that dose come in 3 times a week, she helps me out on the things I have a hard time doing. Like moping my floor, over the past few months my neuropathy has been taken its toll on my arms and hands. I also have tools that help me alot. Now let me take a few steps back, when I woke up from my leg amputation the first thought I had is that this will not stop me from living or keep me down. I'v learned to adapt and thrive. Another step back, being a disabled Vet I made a life for my X-wife and boys. At the tender age of 58 now, I know that I'm a good man as do all of my friends see this, yet I miss having a girl-friend but not hard-up. I spend most of my time on my PC watching movies or playing video games, cooking, or just good TV shows. This is ok with me, got enough to keep me busy. I live on a tight budget, yet I eat well, last night I had pull-pork roast, taters. Cooked them up in my pressure cooker, very tasty. Learning new things about cooking from YOU-TUBE and haveing fun. You can turn crappy food into something scrumptious. My babyback rib's come out perfect everytime. I had a trailer made for my wheel-chair and when I go shopping it goes with. I designed it. My trailer is a 2 point swivel from the hitch to the front tires. It has mesh metal sides that come down for unloading. 3 feet x 1 1/2 wide. My trailer comes in handy alot.
