What to do if Bear has a seizure
When a dog has a seizure it can be a terrifying time for both the owner and the dog. The first time it occurs you may not even know what is happening. The dog may become nervous and start trembling, before stiffening and falling on its side. Once on its side it will paddle with its legs on the floor. Although this is a frightening sight, stay calm and use these tips to help your dog through this time.
The most important thing to do when your dog has a seizure is to avoid panic. Seizures are seldom fatal, but they can be indicative of a larger problem. They are very difficult to watch, especially if they are happening to a beloved pet. Many people believe that dogs can sense your emotions, making it even more imperative that you stay calm while your dog is seizing.
When a seizure starts, take care to minimize the chances your dog will become injured. Put a towel underneath the dog if it is on a hard surface. Also move your dog away from any walls or anything it might bang against. Do not worry about your dog swallowing its tongue; dogs do not do this while having a seizure. Never place your hand or other object in a dog's mouth while it is having a seizure. Your dog may unknowingly bite down on your hand and be unable to release it.
After you have removed any possible hazards away from your dog, pet it and speak in a soothing tone. Turn down

You will want to have this information when you speak to your vet. It is not uncommon for a dog that is seizing to lose control of its bodily functions.
When your dog stops seizing, it will enter into a state called the post-ictal phase. Often a dog is temporarily blind after a seizure. Your dog may not be able to stand and may appear disoriented. Encourage your dog to remain lying down until it becomes aware of its surroundings so it does not fall down and injure itself.
Now is the time to really try and comfort your dog. Some veterinarians believe that comforting your dog can reduce the post-ictal period. Most post-ictal periods last only a few hours, although some can last as long as a day. Many dogs may be particularly uneasy if they are housetrained and have soiled the area around it. Be sure to reassure your dog that it is not in trouble because of its accident.
Unless your dog is a puppy or lactating bitch, you do not need to seek emergency veterinary care. If your dog is your baby, remember you must be an adult during this emergency. Crying or shouting will just agitate your dog. Try to make it comfortable during and after an attack and call your veterinarian. Seizures are indicative of many conditions, but chances are your dog will be just fine.
We usually give Bear one of his anti-seizure meds when he is in a seizure. It pulls him out quicker.
Food is located in the coat closet near the front door. They usually get fed between 6:30 and 7:00 in the morning and evening. They will survive if you’re late
Fonzie gets 1 full cup at each feeding
Bear gets a ¾ scoop of food 2x daily – once in the morning and once in the evening. There is a large grey scoop, so he gets about ¾ of the scoop at each feeding. He is liking a little warm water drizzled over his food of late instead of dry.
Bear’s Special Instructions:
Medicine – there will be his anti-seizure medicine on the counter. Please give him Phenobarbital - ONE pill at breakfast ONE with dinner. Bear also gets a Potassium Bromine capsule (1x daily usually in the morning in the Green bottle) which will also be on the counter Vet is Bannefield

Lichtenberger-guest this is the same as the apple tv so your ipad/iphone must be connected to this network to use airplay
Both passwords are 6028850349
We will not turn on the alarm do not bother with that security Info,
TVs – Guest Bedroom – does not have a DVR which can record. Just click All power button. That should turn on TV and the Comcast box is always on.
TV Room – Using the Comcast remote Click on the All power button, if cable is on, then click on cable to change the channel. This TV has chromecast and that is input 4 on the TV. I think chromecast has a daily ‘guest’ code that will allow you to cast if you know how to do that
Living Room – Using the Comcast remote Click on the All power button.
Has Apple TV. You have to put the remote in TV mode, then go to input 3. You’ll see the input button at the bottom of the Xfinity remote. You have to keep clicking on this button until the TV says input 3. To get back to TV is lots of clicks. Also to do screen sharing from an apple device you have to be logged into Lichtenberger-Guest for airplay to work.
I’ll leave out towels if it rains so you can dry the dogs if you like.
I’ll leave towels on the bed for you.
Let me know if you need anything at all
IN CASE IT RAINS could you please put the sprinklers on Rain Delay as there will be a fine if we run sprinklers 48 hours after a rain (new law effective 4/15)
Your key to the house is the same that works the ‘basement’. Please see below
The control is mounted directly LEFT of the door.
Move the switch to the rain delay (two left)
Press the UP button so the delay is at least 48 hours but you can move to 72 if needed (I think that’s the max)
Then move the control switch to the top.emain lying down until it becomes aware of its surroundings so it does not fall down and injure itself.
Please bring the mail in each day and put in a location that won’t be in the way
