Describe your neighborhood (residential, rural, urban, suburban). Are there any parks in the area where dogs are allowed (yes/no, on leash, off leash)?
What type of residence do you live in (apartment, townhouse, detached home, other)? Is there a fenced backyard (yes/no, fully fenced, partially fenced, and type of fence) Is there a garage the dog will have access to (yes/no)?

Are there any other children that visit your home regularly, i.e. grandkids and if so what ages? Where do you plan to keep the dog when you’re not home? Do you have a crate (yes/no)?

Is This Family Appropriate for Rescue?
Are you familiar with crate training (yes/no)? Will you supervise your dog when he’s outdoors (yes/no)? What behaviours are unacceptable in your rescue dog and would cause you to return them? Under what circumstances would you consider
(a) finding another home for your dog?
(b) euthanasia? Describe how you will discipline your dog. Have you obedience trained a dog in the past? Are you willing to attend formal obedience classes with your rescue dog (yes/no)? Describe how and how often you will exercise your dog. What type of collar do you/will you use? How long do you think it will take for a dog to become fully adjusted to you and your home? A rescue dog will take time to settle in to your home. Are you prepared to put a minimum 2-week effort in to allow him/her an appropriate transition period? If you have other pets how will you introduce your rescue dog to them? Why are you considering a Boxer(if not previous owner) Why are you considering rescuing a dog?

The fee for adopting a dog from Boxer Rescue Ontario is $400.00. (Puppies and 1 year olds: $500.00, Seniors $ 250.00) Our dogs are spayed/neutered (unless for medical purposes this cannot be done), current on vaccinations, have had a general veterinary examination, heartworm test (in season), fecal test for parasites and microchipped. Are you prepared to make payment upon adopting a dog?
We foster dogs all over Ontario. Do you realize where the dog you are applying for is located?
Are you prepared to drive that far to meet him/her and also pick up for adoption?
After all the phone interviews are conducted for this specific dog, they will be passed onto the foster home and they will review them. All our foster homes are volunteers and this process might take a week or two - are you prepared to wait?
