“The only remedy for love is to love more”
Doodle’s desire for his brother’s love kills him. Throughout the Scarlet Ibis, Doodle performs many actions because of the desire for his brother’s love. Many instances of this desire are exemplified in the story. My contention is that these instances of motivation is what ultimately leads to Doodle’s physical and emotional demise.
Doodle’s motivation for the way he thinks and acts are very persistent throughout The Scarlet Ibis. He tries to obtain love and acceptance from his brother, so his thought process does not change. “This never failed to make him try again.” (156) Doodle was motivated to keep trying
