Year 7 Homework Sheet - Sealife Project
All homework is to be completed on paper. It is your responsibility to ensure your homework is placed in your folder.
If you do not have access to a computer or printer at home don’t worry. You can either use the school library or ask your teacher and come in to do your homework in an art room during break or lunch or before or after school. Never save homework on a memory stick and expect to be able to print it at school as you are not allowed to do this.
Always make sure your homework looks creative and interesting. This is very important in art as it shows that you are able to artistically present images and information. This will help you to get a higher level.
Choose four of the homeworks from below and try to spend at least one hour over two weeks completing one of these pieces of work. You may take longer, or complete more than 4 if you really enjoy making art at home! The more stars, the harder the homework! Challenge yourself!!
Find an image/photograph of a sea creature of your choice (it doesn’t have to be a fish) and produce a pencil study on one of the Homework pages in your sketchbook. Remember to include all the detail you can see and try to add different tones of shade to give the drawing shape and form
Create a collage (lots of images cut or torn from paper, magazines, newspapers, printed pictures) of an underwater scene. Think about the types of textures and shapes you might see and think about the different colours and tones that underwater light might make
Research the artist ’Vincent Scarpace’ (
http://ipaintfish.comhttp://ipaintfish.com) and choose one of the pictures from his website. Produce a study of the piece in your sketchbook using pencil or other material of your choosing
Research the artist ‘Craig Bertram Smith’ (
http://globalflyfisher.com/gallery/craig-bertram-smithhttp://globalflyfisher.com/gallery/craig-bertram-smith) and choose one of the pictures from his website. Produce a study of the piece in your sketchbook using pencil or other material of your choosing
Produce a painting or drawing of an ocean scene from photograph or image from the internet/magazine. It could be a holiday photo!!! Look at the light and textures within the image and try to recreate the tones found in the different surfaces
Produce a mind map of all the things you can think of related to ocean/sea life. Think of different categories to put your ideas under (coral reefs – tropical fish, colours, patterns, etc) Use colour and textures if you can
Create a 3D model of a sea creature of your choice. It could be a fish or something more detailed like a crab, lobster or jelly fish for example. You can use any materials you like but try to select materials that would suit the textures and shapes you want to make
WILD CARD!!! Any piece of Sealife related Homework you can think of – ITS YOUR CHOICE!
