Being a tenant of Southridge Apartments for 10 years, I am astounded by my present rent increase of $75.
I realize market value will be your answer but looking around at other apartments in the area all of them are remodeled and updated with new appliances, new kitchens, bathrooms, flooring etc.
I have a 30 year old stove and beat up refrigerator that runs constantly and still won’t stay at the desired temperature, frayed, stained carpet (that was this way when I moved in)
If I would ask for something like a refrigerator to be replaced with one that actually works correctly you get another beat up old thing. I have had to do that in the past.
I have caused no trouble or complained about this apartments condition because in 2006 when I moved in here I was told to remember these buildings are old.
The only thing I’m complaining about currently is the rent increase. I don’t want to be forced to leave my home. Usually the rent increase has only been approximately $20 at a time.
Being on a fixed income, this is going to make it impossible for me to survive.
I am appealing to your sense of fairness and would hope you find it in your heart to let me stay in this home and rescind the $75 increase.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
