It’s half past seven.
Blanche has been eating grapes nonstop since her boyfriend mitch left her. She’s on the floor bawling her eyes out, packing up all her beautiful flowery dresses, the air filled with great exhaustion.
After doing so she looks into an elongated night stand mirror, placing a gold encrusted tiara on her head.
Blanche: Can I get more grapes? Or perhaps oranges! Oranges are very delightful, filled with such a juicy fluid – I just love oranges.
(As blanche is eating her grapes, she trembles with great feverish panting. She moans at the taste of the grapes, while simultaneously wishing for oranges)
(Stanley appears around the corner, half-drunk ready with a vivid neon pink golfing shirt on. The negro entertainers up the block can be heard playing music)
Stanley: How are you?
Blanche: I’m fine. How’s my sister?
Stanley: She’s alright. Hopefully the baby is a boy because I want my first child to be a boy.
Blanche: When will she back?
Stanley: A day she goes into labor, hopefully.
Blanche: So it’s just me and you? All alone in this house of yours and Stella?
Stanley: Yup, just me and you, Blanche. Unless you want to leave now. Do you want to leave now?
Blanche: Nope. I want to meet my nephew.
Stanley: Well you won’t be meeting him ‘cause you got a telegram from Mr. Shep Huntleigh
Blanche: Oh – my. Oh my!
Stanley: Seems like your little dream is coming true
Blanche: This is the best day of my life, even possibly yours! What a marvelous day!
(Stanley looks at blanche bewildered with a sense of joy and worry)
Stanley: Well anyways he’s coming to pick you up – your dream guy that lives out in Texas.
Stanley: he should be here in about an hour.
(Blanche lets out a huge shriek. She runs through the curtains into her dimly lit room, packing all of her trunk with all her clothes and perfumes)
(Stanley goes back there shakes his head at what seems to be the best day ever)
