I am attending college because I am fortunate to have the opportunity to take college classes and receive college credits before I graduate from high school. My mom felt that this would be a good experience for me as a high school student. I honestly was reluctant at first however, I am glad that I registered for the classes and I am actively participating in them. I also attended this specific class to explore my career options.
My expectations for this class are a lot different from my high school expectations. As far as, more discipline, time and class management, with attention to class work and detail. In high school, there are disciplines such as when assignments are due. Same for college but, this is demonstrated more strictly. I believe that this class will become a helpful source for my future. I come to the conclusion to understand that college is a very different atmosphere than high school.
Some of the struggles that I have already experienced are not understanding the exact directions given. I haven’t had the confidence in myself to achieve my full potential. Some of the struggles that I predict could happen are not staying on top of my assignments, or in other words, falling behind. In high school, that really isn’t a problem for me, but in college things are a little more disciplined. So, in that case I feel that staying on top of stuff would, or could be a problem. To overcome those struggles, I’m going to do more of staying on top of things and asking more questions to understand what I am struggling on.
The benefits of attending college are thinking outside the box, expanding my knowledge base, and meeting new people. Acquiring a college degree to help me obtain a better paying job as a contributing member of society or in other words, being an adult. I also think that the benefits of attending college will really help me out in the real world.
