Working With Our Community, For Our Community
Objectives And Operation
The organisation will be known as The North Inner City Community Coalition (NICCC)
The NICCC will serve its core area of the North East Inner City and the hinterland of the North West Inner City.
The Objectives of the NICCC will be as follows:
To provide an inclusive, active forum for community stakeholders across the North Inner City.
To design, promote and oversee implementation of short term, medium term and long term, state resourced partnerships and policies for the renewal of the North Inner City; to include a comprehensive anti-poverty strategy, social inclusion strategy and economic/employment strategy for the area.
To design, promote and oversee implementation of short term, medium term and long term strategies and partnerships with cultural, educational, corporate/business interests, employers, and any other relevant sectoral interests for the renewal of the North Inner City.
All partnerships described above (at (b) and (c))will be based on rights based and community development principles
To formulate and advance proposals based, on rights based and community development principles, for inclusion in the terms of reference for the proposed Government Task Force for the North Inner City;
To participate fully in the development, workings and oversight of the Government Task Force for the North Inner City.
To secure consistent and long term state and political support for the renewal of the North Inner City.
Membership of NICCC is open to representatives from community and voluntary groups and networks, residents/tenants associations and groups, political representatives, and interested individuals resident in the area who share the objectives of the coalition and who are prepared to work pro-actively and collectively to deliver on those objectives.
The Structure of the NICCC will be as follows:
Programme of Work
The programme of work will be agreed by the membership of the NICCC.
The NICCC will as appropriate and agreed consult with the broader community, specialist interests or stakeholders in formulating initiatives and policy.
Working groups will bring forward proposals/findings for inclusion, by agreement, in the programme of work.
The NICCC will choose five members to act as Convenors, by consensus or vote of the membership. Convenors will act as spokespersons for the group.
Meetings will be chaired on a rotating basis between the Convenors in a manner agreed by them.
Convenors will oversee and manage the agreed work programme of the NICCC.
Convenors will establish an efficient administration and communication mechanism for the NICCC.
Convenors will have a direct line of contact with and oversight of Working Groups.
Convenors will, as directed by the NICCC, convene meetings with Government, statutory bodies/agencies
Convenors will act as the NICCC representatives to the Government Task Force on the North Inner City.
The NICCC will appoint working groups to focus on agreed sectoral/policy areas
Each working group will appoint a Cathaoirleach (Chairperson).
Working groups will work to timelines agreed by the NICCC.
Working groups will work to produce short, medium and long term plans and initiatives.
Working groups will consult/liase with statutory agencies, sectoral/specialist groups/individuals as necessary and appropriate
The Findings and proposals of Working groups will be reported back to the NICCC for consideration and decision.
The NICCC will meet as often as necessary but at least once a month.
The operation and structure of the NICCC will be reviewed in Six Months.
