My name is Hampton Clark and my life long goal has always been to become a physical therapist. For my senior project, I will be conducting a diagram of all the bones the human body has to offer. An addition to that, I will also be displaying a video on the proper way to stretch someone out whether it’s for a game, running, or just simple exercise. I will be explaining precautions athletes can take to attempt to prevent injuries and the best remedies for them. Since I was a little kid, I have always wanted to become a trainer for a football team one day. My inspiration spurred from my cousin Jeff, who is the head trainer at the University of Alabama.
In completing this project, I researched many issues ranging from every injury in the human body and every single body part as well. It is commonly known that the human body contains complexity, but not to the extent I was aware of. It is absolutely mind boggling to research and discover what all the human body has to offer. Another thing I found crazy was how many athletes pull something simply because they did not stretch. Sometimes the problem is not even that they did not stretch, but not stretch enough or even correctly.
After many days of hard work, contemplation, and determination, I am happy to say that I have completed my finish product. My two products were a diagram of the human body with its parts, and a video of me stretching my friend out before his basketball practice. In the process of conducting this diagram, I certainly have learned a lot. Through completing this project, it is still very apparent to me that I want to be a physical therapist. The biggest obstacle I had to overcome in completing this project was obviously not only researching, but memorizing and learning every single bone part in the human body.
If this product has shown me one prevalent thing, I certainly believe this project has told me to go to college and continue to pursue my career in physical therapy. If I told you this project was no challenge, I would undoubtedly be lying but this has been an amazing experience. I have learned so much about the career I’ve always wanted to do. My facilitator has been awesome with helping me understand every aspect of physical therapy and always being willing to lend a helping tip. She even let me go to work with her one day to get a full experience on what the everyday life is like for a physical therapist. I really enjoyed not only the work environment, but the generosity of her clients.
For something that I can’t say I was looking forward to in the beginning, senior project has been an interesting and beneficial ride. I honestly believe with all my heart that senior project is one of the best things that we do in school. It has really educated me on my topic and ensured me that this is the career I’m willing to take. I also would love to give a huge thank you to every single judge in senior project for taking time of your professions and personal lives to evaluate every individual student’s works.
