An abstraction is a saved experience. The background- the 'Gestalt'-, that's an experience, the signs, intuition, vagueness. An abstaction is an idea, they're called saved, because they're something of value.
That's Mach, Mach One, Mach One O One. He's about the last thing in philosophy. that's the contemporary scene, nothing has happened since then. Wittgenstein is basically Mach. He calls the background, nonsense. Logical Positivism. When you get there, you're really getting up there.
In Wittgenstein, Logical Positivism, you're supposed to ignore or disregard the background. It's purported to be nonsense. his commandment is to be a pure scientist, simple observer, no interpreting. It's like 'The Fray', 'who I am, who I'm not, and who I want to be'. Rational. Pure reason. Consciousness.
But, I still , as the Dao Je Jhing says, 'prefer the little paths'. I set my polarity according to the movements of the next nearest members of the group. We are like a grass-hopper army or swarm of bees. together, one, and not an aggregate or compact of separate, autonomous individuals.
We make up one body, our bodies plastered together, meeting at all points, blending, coalesceing, merging completely. Our minds at one, congruent, the same. The social substance.
Oh, what an awakening!
