I wanted to say something about the drug people, they're different, yet similar to the mental people. They have 'entitlement problems', think the world owes them a living, don't know when to say no. Mental's probably genetic- and the drug people- the fact that they have an addiction could be genetic too, but mental as well may be not genetic, but cultural and possibly a problem with my thinking. free-will is not disproven, though in science and religion. Everything is a cause-effect chain, and so perhaps no free-will, but every choice has a cause; or everything is the will of God.
Maybe I just have an attitude about the 'secret language', or it's against cultural norms. First, I insisted nobody do it, and now I insist that everybody do it. My problem could be attitude; and maybe every mental case is that way. But, I think that's the Wahhabi and Puritans, that nobody do it, and it's Marxist or called 'crazy' that it happens at all. it's a contradiction. but the Puritans.
That's the first thing we studied in the American Studies program. They are good for entitlement problems. If you can't control yourself, it's because of what they call 'original sin', innate depravity. For a Puritan, human nature is thoroughly evil, a nest of illicit desires. This is the human condition, and God's will. God, for a reason we can never know or understand, has made most of mankind inevitably destined to Hell. We can't do anything about it. We do not choose God, but God chooses or saves us. It's his will, not ours. The people who are saved are called 'God's elect'. God elects them. This is like being rich or cool, you either are or aren't. Religion agrees with science, or they imported determinism into their domain.
Now, getting saved, what is it, what happens? God cleanses you, enters your heart, and circumscribes it, throws out all the lustful desires, and their inter-active signs. That's Wahhabi , House of Saud, in particular, no 'secret language'. The garden is pruned, but not by you, but the hand of God. This is that same passivity or resignation before, I think, the social system. we're all depicted as damned and helpless. So, the point is to purify yourself, be robust, capable of sustaining damage and pain; God loves the pure in heart, 'they shall see God'.
My thing about acting free, is in St. Paul, that your saved by faith, not works. Faith is consciousness, the Puritan purified heart, and works mean, not social programs, but acts of appropriate or proper-courtly- behavior. Why would Jesus be down on acts of state-sponsored charity, aren't they love? But all this, even the step from one thought to the next is a casual chain, the effect of an unknown, all-powerful outside force.
