Music with a mad passion
By: Gavin Pilsbury
February 11, 2017
The sky was dark with dark clouds in them promising it was not going to be sunny outside. With a little rainy falling from the sky making the ground soaked in water. But inside ken Stanton music store packed with curious and learning musicians you can find Rick Shoemaker playing a drum set. Rick Shoemaker has done many things in life. He has been an actor, drummer, singer, and is currently husband. Rick has lived all over the united states and has traveled to many states because he was in many different bands. "I have been in about 35 plus bands all in different states.", said Rick being no stranger to being in bands.
Rick wasn't always drawn to the drums and playing music. As a kid he started playing the drums around the age of thirteen but later stopped once he missed his Saturday cartoons. Rick said, "As A kid I really wanted to watch cartoons rather than being inside learning how to play an instrument." Rick later on found himself playing the drums and taking lessons again.
Rick at one time was an actor and a musician but as time went by he decided that music was more his passion, and found that more money was in the music business. As rick said, "Its really hard to become a good actor, and I really felt like playing the drums had more freedom and money in it." To this day rick still acts a little in a show called, The walking dead, He is just an extra and will play a zombie every now and then.
Rick really enjoys teaching kids how to play the drums. As rick said, "I really love teaching kids how to play something different, you can't really do that with acting, that’s another reason why I love drumming over acting." Rick feels that drumming has more of an impact and something special that acting just can not provide.
