To Whom it May Concern,
I first met Sandi Gugliotti in 2011 during a business meeting in San Diego, and a few months later, had the pleasure of meeting her daughter, Carly. In the following years, during business trips to the San Diego area, I have spent a lot of time with both Sandi and Carly. Having been a former coach for Special Olympics, and the creator and a founder of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, I have spent years in the presence of special needs/autistic children, I was taken by the love, attention and care Carly received from her mother, Sandi, especially in the area of communication and education.
In 2014, Ms. Gugliotti asked me for advice in starting a not-for- profit foundation to help raise funds to purchase I-Pads for special needs/autistic children in the greater San Diego area. Ms. Gugliotti had discovered, through her daughter, that the special needs/autistic child can better communicate with the parent with the assistance of the I-Pad, and it was also an educational tool. This led to the current non-profit foundation, “Carlys Cause”. I was honored to be asked by Ms. Gugilotti to be one of the speakers at the first fund-raising gala for Carlys Cause.
I feel the special needs/autistic child needs to be with the parent who can provide the most one-on-one time with the child in the areas of education, development, and most important, love. I believe Ms. Gugilotti can fill that need.
