2 hours Today was my very first session with BlueHair Technology as part of my service for the elderly. It was a very basic process where I went to a retirement home, and residents would simply walk in and ask questions about anything they needed to know about their technology. It was a very fascinating first experience for me. It made me feel very good to help people, but unfortunately only two people showed up today.
Me and another BlueHair Technology helper showing an elder how to use her IPad. Since this was my first day, I was mostly observing, but it was still a very fascinating experience for me.

1 hour 45 minutes Today was my next class with BlueHair Technology. This class was different from the last due to this class being a specific topic type of class. This means that the class was set aside for a specific type of tech. This class was meant solely for smartphones. Me being someone who uses smartphones. The class was very exciting due to the large amount of people who showed up, but this also made things difficult with the amount of questions that needed to be answered as well. Fortunately we were well staffed and had a leader to organize most of the event.

1 hour 15 minutes This class was very similar to the first one I did in september. Just like the last class, this was a walk in session that anyone could attend with and technical issues. There was only one volunteer named Beth and me that day, who I had worked with prior. The number of visitors was slightly larger than the last. My opinion on this class is the same as the others. One thing that made this class stand out were some of the new things I learned myself. While showing an older man several different types of GPS apps, I learned several new functions on my own GPS that I didn’t know I had. I also enjoyed conversing with several of the other students who were very patient throughout the whole class.

9:00-10:00 Today was a day that I had managed to hit two birds with one stone. It was my first face-to-face meeting with my project facilitator. It was also the day that I had my required interview for the feature article with her. The whole meeting went on for about an hour. Her answers for the every question were well thought out and she was very cooperative the whole time.
While I had spoken with Nancy over the phone and via email in the past, meeting someone face-to-face for the first time is always a different experience. My first impression of her is that she is sweet, calm, and collected lady who enjoys the work she does for BlueHair Technology. I knew that I was looking forward to any future meetings with her from that point on.

Writing my research paper (rough and final draft) was not a fun task for me. At the start, I found myself just staring blankly at the many websites just trying to get some information that may have been good enough for my paper. Eventually the grades for my rough draft came in and it was not good at all. I knew I would have to make some major adjustments to the paper. I had to go into Mrs. Loversky’s class several times for critique and sat retyping the paper for hours on end to make it right. Eventually my rewrite payed off with a better grade for my final draft. The research paper was without a doubt the most challenging part of the senior project. We were restricted to what websites we could use and we had to use a writing we had no former experience with in the past before (APA). The rubric in general was more demanding than any other paper I had written before as well. I am just glad that it is done now.
Me on my computer late at night. I am finishing the last bit of my final draft which was very exhausting the whole time.

10:30-2-00 Today was the longest and most important class I volunteered for in BlueHair Technology. This class was focused on streaming tv and online banking. But that is not what made this so important. It was the fact I finally met the founder of BlueHair Technology, Jane Ratliff. She was the instructor for this class. M job as a volunteer was to simply make sure the students were caught up with her lesson. This part of my project was definitely one of my most successful sessions. This is due to the large number of hours I built up for attending this class. The class itself was pretty easy for me because how lightly involved my job required me to be this day. I feel that I would gladly do a class like this with Jane again without hesitation. I knew that at this point I was doing well to stay caught up on my senior project.

2:00-3:00 This was my second meeting with my project facilitator Nancy Stith. As of this day. This is also my last planned meeting with her. The point of this meeting was to get my product verification form signed. She was able to confirm I had been keeping up with my schedule and my product. After the signing we began discussing my future plans with BlueHair Technology. I had stated that I would continue to volunteer if I had time during the summer. Once again I got see how nice of person Nancy is. She and I have an understanding and similarities in why we have associated ourselves with BlueHair Technology. I had been really appreciative of her going out of her way to make time to be my project facilitator that me and my family went out and got her a gift before I went to see her for this meeting. It was a mouse pad, a notepad, and a gift card. Signing the product verification form was an easy.
