Eric Albanos March 30, 2017 1054 Boxwood Lane Canton, GA 30114 Senior Capstone Career Project Cherokee High School 930 Marietta Highway Canton, GA 30114 Dear Judges: Hello, my name is Eric Albanos, I am currently 18 years of age and am a Senior at Cherokee High School. I was born in Red Bank, New Jersey and have lived in Naples, Florida before moving to Canton, Georgia just about 9 years ago. I am currently employed as a cart attendant at the Bridgemill Athletic Club Golf Course, where I am also an active member. After graduating high school, I plan to attend Kennesaw State University, were I have been accepted for a Fall 2017 start date. At Kennesaw State University, I plan to pursue a Finance degree and complete the course work required to become a Financial Analyst. After completing my first year of studies I would like to be considered for induction into the J. Coles School of Business and Finance at Kennesaw State University. As for my Senior Capstone Career Project, I have created an Asset Management Diagram indicating how assets are earned, collected, divided amongst operating and overhead expenses. While also observing and learning the functions required for the creation and implementation of profit/loss statements and the overall function of daily business operations. For my Senior Capstone Career Project research paper, I decided to look up the definition of Entrepreneurship, while specifically researching the overall failure rate of attempted Entrepreneurs. What I found out was that the failure within becoming an Entrepreneur and starting a successful business venture has a 51.2% of failure. Even worse is that 71 % of business owners that fail do not ever try again to succeed. While 29% who have failed and attempted a second try have statistically a better chance. Due to the fact that with each failed attempt their rate of success gets better as they have learned from their previous mistakes. My product is a detailed Excel spreadsheet that I created to outline my research and analysis of my facilitators company. This relates to my research paper by seeing a company of 13 years maintain operations and profitability through some of the toughest economic times in recent history. One of the obstacles I had to overcame while completing my product was learning the complete functionality of Excel, the processes and formulas required to calculated all of the data found. Another obstacle was understanding the daily operations of a company and how money is managed within the company. That only made the success greater though learning what it is like to make and see an asset management chart. While working on this project and writing this paper I have come to appreciate the fields of Business Ownership (Entrepreneurship), Financial Management and Analysis. After college, I would like to gain employment in the field of financial analysis, asset management and/or business administration possibly becoming a Chief Financial Officer. My project relates to these fields in the fact that Financial Analysts and Asset Managers keep track of their client's businesses, stocks and other investments on a daily basis. I have learned that I enjoy keeping track of assets whether they be my own or of a potential client or employer. I feel that making this a long-term career could be mutually beneficial for both my future earnings as well as my overall quality of life. I believe the Senior Capstone Career Project opens the eyes of students and makes them think about what they actually want to do for the rest of their lives. If taken seriously it can prepare them for the "Real World" that is ahead of them after graduating from Cherokee High School. I hope you enjoyed reading my letter and thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Eric Albanos
