As the proud owner of Westbury Ironing, I want my business to offer a service that you can trust.
When I set up Westbury in July 2015 as a part-time venture, the plan was to grow and offer work and training opportunities to local people.
I’m proud to say that I have developed this venture as planned. We now have a new ironing studio at Landau Training and Enterprise Centre in Newstead, Stoke-on-Trent where we employ six part-time staff.
Turn to page 2 to meet the team.
“Landau is a charity that provides people with learning disabilities or long-term health issues, and the long-term unemployed, with the skills and support they need to find work and move towards independent living. Landau is working in partnership with Westbury Ironing to equip people with these skills for life

Meet the team
As a growing small business we want you to know who is handling your clothes and ensuring they are being ironed to the high standard that we pride ourselves on.
We will be launching an exciting new venture in the New Year – hosting short courses at our ironing studio in Newstead, Stoke-on-Trent.
It’s all part of our vision to help people who have never learned how to iron and adults with learning difficulties or physical disabilities who want to develop their life and work skills.
My son Robert – who is a full time wheelchair user also helps with deliveries with his Carer’s Lucy, Lizzy, Jen, Amy, Jo & Patrick.
Since moving into our wonderful bright, airy and modern studio we now have a team of 6 brilliant members of staff. 4 of which do the ironing and ensure it is either neatly folded or hung ready to return. The other 2 have literally just come on board to help me with the collections and deliveries.
DANIEL – Dan has been employed with me since June this year and is a great asset to Westbury. He is now working as Supervisor and is doing a brilliant job in organising and managing the diary and the team.
JEANNETTE – This wonderful lady has been a family friend for many years and has been helping me with ironing since February. Her standards are high and she actually loves ironing.
ANN – As a very new member to the team, Ann has been with us just a few weeks, but having had previous experience with an ironing company she has settled in really well and again has the high standards that I expect from my staff.
STEPH – I have known Steph for some time due to her daughter attending a local Brownie Pack I help at. She often asked if I needed more staff and she is now on board working 6 hours a week and doing a fabulous job.
PATRICK – Another new starter but an excellent worker who is now helping me to collect and deliver your ironing. He won’t let you down!
JEN – A bright and bubbly young lady who is also helping out with collections and deliveries. A very approachable person who will ensure your ironing gets back to you just when you want it.

What matters to us most
By Daniel Walley
We will be launching an exciting new venture in the New Year - hosting short courses in partnership with Landau at our ironing studio within the Landau Training & Enterprise Centre, Newstead, Stoke-on Trent..
Its ALL part of our vision
We want to help people to live more independently by teaching them to wash, iron and care for their own clothes
Learning new life skills
Diane, who has spent more than 25 years in the care and support sector, is also the mother of three teenagers, including a son who is a full-time wheelchair user with multiple learning difficulties.
“Having worked or volunteered in the social care sector for so many years and having a son with profound and multiple learning difficulties means I both understand and appreciate that people with disabilities want to be as independent as possible,” she says.
“We also want to equip them with the skills they need to work in the ironing and laundry business. This has always been our vision – to offer work and training opportunities to local people.”
Each of our short workshops will teach people how to:
Wash clothes properly without shrinking, fading or running of colours
Understand the labels on clothes – why they are there and what they mean
Operate a washing machine and know the difference between each of the programs
Dry clothes correctly depending on the fabric
Understand how an iron works and be able to iron clothes
Hang and fold clothes
We will be offering three different courses:
Four-hour one-off courses for students leaving home and adults who have never learned to iron (max three learners per course)
A three-week course run one day a week for three hours for adults with learning difficulties or physical disabilities
1:1 bespoke tuition

keeping it simple
Standard Items - £1 each
All adult clothes are charged at £1 per item. We don’t see the point in messing about weighing your ironing when a pair of jeans or slightly damp washing are easier to iron but will make your load more expensive when being charged this way.
We also want to make life simple and easy for all, so instead of charging say £1.20 for a cotton shirt and £1.15 for a pleated skirt or suit trousers and 90p for a t-shirt, we think it is much easier and more cost effective for you to have a standard rate at £1 each – over an average basket of ironing it works out cheaper for you and saves us time working out the cost – so a win/win situation.
We tend to place all items on hangers unless we are requested otherwise – or if they are the type of clothes where the hangers will leave a mark on the shoulders such as woolen jumpers and thin fitted tops. We then fold them neatly and ready to wear.
Please help us to keep our prices low by returning any unused coat hangers. Also by receiving your ironing folded and very slightly damp gives us the best results. We do not currently charge additional costs for items that are still button up, dried to a crisp, soaking wet or crumpled. Help us to avoid these costs that other companies charge by folding you clothes before we collect them. THANKS xSmall items – 50p each
All children’s clothes aged 12 and under are classed as small items. Along with things such as vest-tops, pillow cases, t-towels, napkins, handkerchiefs and boxer shorts.
15% Discount for all new customers and to all existing customers who refer a friend.
That’s right 15% discount for both you and your friend.
If YOU NEED ANY MORE INFORMATION ABOUT US, OUR TEAM, OUR WORKSHOP OR OUR PRICES THEN PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO GET IN TOUCH.

These items are charged at just 50p each, we always hang girl’s dresses and blouses and will even hang t-shirts and other items on request. We always try where possible to separate different sized clothes where we can see you have more than 1 child – hopefully making it easier for you when it comes to putting everything away. (sorry we don’t do that bit!!)
Bedding – from £1 each
Single items - £1.00 each
Double items - £1.50 each
King/Queen and Extra sizes - £2.00 each
These prices are for duvet covers, fitted or flat sheets and throws of each size.
Valence sheets are charged at the size above plus an extra 25p
All sized pillow cases are classed as a small item and charged at 50p each.
Bedding is ironed as it comes, so if we receive it inside out we will iron and return it inside out – unless requested otherwise.
Please feel free to make any requests to Diane or to the person who collects your ironing. We want to ensure we deliver a service that you want!
Curtains - from £2 per width
We charge by the width for curtains. With full length curtains charged at £3 per width and shorter lengths being charged at £2 per width.
