Opening Scripture: Hebrews 12:1 - Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Subject: WITNESSES; WEIGHTS; SIN, Patience
Opening Statement: We are in a unique race that is unlike any other; though there are some similarities to a natural race; there is no pre-qualifications, no 2nd or 3rd or 4th there’s only 1st place if you lose this race you lose your life eternally.
a] There is preparation, there is, conditioning, putting on and a laying aside of all excess weight that would prevent one from winning the race.
This scripture is broken down into 4 interesting points
a] First - Paul is saying I want you to be aware of something very important
Wherefore seeing we are compassed about with so great cloud of witnesses
b] Hebrews 11th chapter talks about the witnesses we have by faith that endured hardships, disappointment, adversities etc, but still stood on whatever God told them to do
Heb. 11:13 - These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

d] Caleb & Joshua – men of good report – Num. 14:24; v38
e] David – a man after God’s heart & a man of repentance – 1Sam. 13:14;

h] Rahab – a woman of faith – Joshua 2:12-13;18-23;6:12
Second – let us lay aside every weight…………
Weights will cause one to be stagnant in one’s growth in God
Define Weight: 1. a body's relative mass or the quantity of matter contained by it, giving rise to a downward force; the heaviness of a person or thing. 2. a heavy object, especially one being lifted or carried. 3. hold (something) down by placing a heavy object on top of it. 4. make (something) heavier by attaching a heavy object to it, especially so as to make it stay in place.

Define Depression: 1. a feeling of sadness that makes you think there is no hope for the future 2. a depressive disorder is an illness that involves the body, mood, and thoughts. It interferes with daily life, normal functioning. and causes pain for both the person with the disorder and those who care about him or her. 3. a mood or emotional state that is marked by feelings of low self-worth or guilt and a reduced ability to enjoy life. Define Anxiety: 1. a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome. 2. a nervous disorder characterized by a state of excessive uneasiness and apprehension, typically with compulsive behavior or panic attacks.

Galatians 5:19-21 - 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Colossians 3:8 - But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
4. let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Point: one does not have to pray for patience!!
You will develop it or you’ll lose your job,
You’ll learn it or you’ll have multiple traffic tickets
You’ll never be able to order food at a fast food restaurant nor will you be able to sit in an exclusive one
You’ll never be able to shop, by groceries, get gas etc.
Matthew 10:22 - And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
James 1:12 -Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
