Me with the Strengthening Families volunteer at a meeting
A meeting was held today by me to go over all the little in-depth details of my retreat. I got all the volunteers to come so we could know who would talk about the certain subjects that I have prepared. In Spanish, anytime a speaker goes up to talk about the different subjects I have organized, we call them charlas. With the volunteers I went over each charla, what it was about, and how to get the kids in their group to engage with the activities that go with each charla. That way everyone knows what to do, what to say , and how . My facilitator was there during the meeting to ensure I correctly went over the psychological benefits of this retreat on the kids, and how certain things that you say or do really impact their performance and participation. At the end I let each volunteer present their charla to me and have them give me their ideas on if anything needed to be changed or added.
I feel a bit nervous. It is a hassle to get in contact with my volunteers and their amount of commitment towards my retreat kind of worries me a little.

Me at St. Michael's Catholic Church handing out flyers to the retreat.
Today I traveled to different churches, in order to promote the retreat, and pass out the flyers I made. Also speak with the families and get out of the way any questions that they may have. I was told by my facilitator to not just promote, but engage. At first I didn't exactly understand why, but as I was speaking to the families at the churches, I realized how much more comfortable and open they were on the idea to sign their kids up for my retreat.
I was really scared when I had to speak in front on the whole church .
