Was brought in on special project to work on implement a fix to the Caterpillar financial system, one huge program was abending multiple times a week bringing down the whole financial system. The program was rewritten into 40 sub modules but the test system was not big enough to test all these modules. My job was to allocate space and load enough data base segments in order to test these 40 modules. I asked if any of these 40 subroutines updated the DB, No was answer, I said why not test in production? My suggestion was excited this saved months of useless work on the test system the VP was so impressed he asked if I wanted to hire in as Caterpillar employee I said yes.
