& Church Board First Assembly of God
Sorry if I miss-spelled the name, we could not hear very well at that time.
Please overlook the fact that I am not a good resume writer, I’ve not had a whole lot of experience lately. Thankfully!
First of all, I’m not a spring chicken. I am 78 years young but still have a fire in my heart for God’s work. He called me to be a pastor years ago and has never lifted that call. OK that’s a big obstacle to overcome I know. All I ask is that you just seek the Lord in all this and His perfect will be done.
I am a people person, as my son can relate because he is not. He can live next door to a family for several years and only know their name (maybe), on the other hand I would know their names, occupation, family and friends and even their pet’s names. I love people.
Our first church was Bethel Assembly in Kermit, Texas (it is no longer there) then next we were called back to Hillcrest Children’s Home in Hot Springs, Ark. Where we served as house parents for Teen age boys (we had 21 in that cottage at one time, we worked at Hillcrest three different times). Our next pastorate was at Spur, Texas and then called back to Hillcrest. Then we went to Bethel A/G in Jacksboro, Texas and again was called back to Hillcrest for the final time. From there we came back to Electra and I went back to college at Midwestern State until Bro. Aldridge called and asked us to come to Pleasant Hills as the Assistant Administrator. We were only there for a year and accepted the call to Prue, Ok.
I have attended school at the University of Texas in Austin, Midwestern University in Wichita Falls, and Southwestern Assemblies of God in Waxahachie, Texas. That is where I met and married Dana Davis who is still with me after 57 years.
From Prue we moved back to Electra, Texas (my home town) and pastored my home church for 11years before taking the position as Executive Director of Pleasant Hills Children’s Home in Fairfield, Texas. While in Electra I was elected to the Electra Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, then I was elected to the Electra School Board for two terms as vice president, we served as Band Parents presidents two terms, and I was also on the Board of the Electra Home Health Services. Since coming back to Electra this time I have chosen to stay out of local politics and concentrate on the church. We only had 8 people left when we were called back by the Presbyter to take the church and since then we have been able to completely remodel the entire church building and the parsonage as well. The congregation grew to a little over 100 during that time but then the oil field experience a major down turn and the town population dropped quickly as well.
This was our second time to pastor my home church and all together we have pastored 24 here in Electra.
I resigned the church here on July 3rd so they could bring in a young man to take over and try and rebuild the old church again.
