Biberman, Annette Bell.
Passed away at age 92 on October 17, 2016 in Manhattan.
Beloved wife of David Marcus Biberman (1922-2015), mother to Nancy ( Roger Evans), Dana ( Paul Gregory), grandmother to Abby (Dave Jaklevic), Matthew Colbert, Jacob Evans, Lilias Evans; great- grandmother to Samuel Marcus Jaklevic. Daughter of immigrant parents, artist, educator, sublime cook, homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A woman with a keen aesthetic eye in both interior design and apparel, she devoted her professional life to high school students as a librarian in disadvantaged Philadelphia public schools. Born in and lifelong resident of Philadelphia, Annette was a believer in the values of the New Deal and the social contract between government and people. Never one to mince words, Annette was appalled at the recent vitriol directed against women during this political season. As befitting a feisty elderly Jewish woman, Annette called out the demagogues in our times: A Shonda! She instilled in her children and grandchildren a love of reading and learning and a keen sense of fairness. In her later years and without benefit of email, she clipped and sent to her family and friends newspaper articles on history, politics, odd coincidences and jokes. It was her fondest wish to be part of the November wave of Pennsylvania women defeating hateful rhetoric. In our matriarch's memory and in lieu of flowers or charitable contributions the family requests that we get out the vote for Hillary on Election Day. Reply Forward
