Have you ever had a fear or phobia? Of course you have! Everyone has or has had a fear or phobia, here’s the difference between fear and phobia, what causes it and how to overcome them!
The difference between fears and phobias is a something that is specific, like dogs, heights or flying. According to the article, “A phobia is an intense fear reaction to a particular thing or a situation.” When I go on roller coasters I h=feel the adrenaline rising! Fear is when your body knows if there is a threat or likely to cause pain. Sometimes I’m afraid to jump off the swing because I might hurt myself. Overall, fear is an emotion while a phobia is something specific.
Moving on to what causes fears and phobias. According to the text “Phobias develop when someone has a scary experience. If you have been chased by a clown (which has happened lately;)) You’re probably going to remember that moment FOREVER. The amygdala triggers when strong emotions are touched, which connects back with fear ☺. Even you thinking about that clown triggers your amygdala, and you heart starts racing. Fear works by our brain sending us signals that we are in danger or something may hurt us or cause us pain. Have you ever startled yourself before? Well that’s just an accident of your doing ;)
Ever wonder how to overcome your fears? Well just face… Take tiny steps though :) According to the article “Researchers at Northwest University have found that just one positive exposure had lasting effects on people with arachnophobia six months later” See? Facing your fears do help… sometimes ;) Also, If you slowly approach the thing you’re afraid of, you feel like it’s nothing, According to a patient that tried this theory. If your wanting to get over your fear, don’t be afraid me free!
In conclusion, Fears and phobias aren’t that different but they do have e some differences. They both are possible to get over and they hold you back from life’s wonders, face our fear an be free!
